Regal Beagle
A Little Tide Up CD

These guys sound so much like the Queers, it's scary. Of course Joe Queer did produce the album and sing backing vocals on a lot of the tracks and lead vocal on the "Summertime" track. I like it a lot though, and I think it's much better than some of the Queers CDs of the past several years. My only complaint is that their cover of Voodoo Doll was way too similar..

I'm surprised I'm just recently hearing of these guys. They are really good, and this is like my favorite CD at the moment. Sidenote... I love Hot Water Music too, but they sound totally different from Northstar. My favorite tracks are 1, 3, 4, 6, and 7.

Matt Skiba/Kevin Seconds
Split CD

Man this is a really good cd. All you people that think the Kevin Seconds part is no good are crazy. I didn't think Seconds could rock in this manner. I could totally see any one of these songs on the soundtrack to Rushmore. I also think any of his songs could make it on the radio, except for Motherfuckers simply because of the name even though it's a great song, if he wanted to go that route. It kinda reminds me of oldies or something, except it has an original sound. The Skiba half is really good too by the way.

Much different from anything I was expecting, ...I mean they sound like they could be a totally different band. Not that I have any problems with that, 'cause this is good stuff. Not the emo/pop classic that some would consider "Something To Write Home About" to be... but as a not so emo/pop-ish release, it's pretty good. At least give it a few listens before dismissing it for being different.

Riverdales -Back to You 7

Riverdales
Back to You 7"

Pretty good 7 inch, mostly for the "Back to You" single, which is a really good Vapid fronted song... "I can't Pretend" is decent, but not worth getting this 7 inch for. Your best bet would be just snagging a copy of the Riverdales self titled album if you don't own it already and hearing "Back To You" mingled in with good songs.
