Rancid (2000) CD

BEST RANCID CD EVER. Hardcore, no gay-ass slow songs, no bullshit. Each song is incredible. They recorded most of these songs LIVE and on the FIRST TAKE. This is real punk rock. Rancid did a fine job with this one. Buy it!

Somewhere In The Between CD

Totally worth the wait. However, I don't think it is any better than "Everything Goes Numb". This new CD has better horn lines and the drums are just incredible to listen to. But, EGN has much better lyrics and vocals. The lyrics on this album are sucky. I remember using the lyrics to EGN when I spoke, and I was so impressed with how clever and touching they were. But on this album, the lyrics were written AFTER the songs were written (you can learn that by reading the liner notes). Which means they aren't meaningful and are just written to go nicely with the music and rhyme. There are parts where I almost cringe sometimes cuz the lyrics are so lame. BAD lyrics. Also, more-so on this album, Tomas can't manage to always sing in key or on pitch. I know it's PUNK, but c'mon, learn to sing! I do like the scratchy tone of his voice though. And lastly, the guy singing the harmonies (sax player) gets obnoxious. He does them TOO MUCH. The harmonies also get so high pitched they are annoying to listen to. He should've layed off a bit. All in all, I can't stop listening to the album. I just wish the singing and vocals reached the level of the rest of the arrangement. Get both of their albums, each is absolutely amazing. These guys are the best ska band out there right now.

The original CD is amazing. However, this "REMASTERED" version is a fluke. I only bought this newer version because I thought since it was remastered, it would sound tons better. The original had a bad recording quality for sure, but hell it was still amazing. This CD sounds THE EXACT SAME as the old one. You CANNOT even tell it has been remastered. Bollocks! But, if you haven't got this CD yet, you are behind my friend. This is a timeless classic and will always be one of my favorite CDs of all time. If you already own it and are buying it for the "REMASTERED" sound, it's a rip off.
