Alien Sex Fiend
Singles 1983-1995 CD

A good place if any to start up one's collection of Alien Sex Fiend. Overall they're a gothic band but, theres some good snippets of punk and some industrial sound to this collection. The beats and mixes still sound good even though some of the tracks are over 20 years old. Some Gothic bands sound a bit dated due to limited technology back then but, not this band!

Who's To Blame? CD

Whats there to say about this album!?! Cept that it's one of the best orange county punk band to come out of the early eighties. Good melodic punk with catchy lyrics! Well, what are you waiting for this is just one of those albums everyone should have in their collection.....

Brats In Battalions CD

Some would say this lp is rather weak compared to the first. But, if you give it a chance you'll find your self getting that itch to get up and pogo! Theres a diffrent lineup on this but, it doesn't make much of a diffrence. Same great scratchy vocals and fun fast paced SoCal punk is what this album delivers. Theres a goofy cover of house of the rising sun. If you're a fan of the adolescents this is worth picking up if you're on the fence with them you may want to go with the first collection to get a feel for them.

Ramones Maniacs CD

Well punkdom is filled with tribute albums from bands we're all familier with to who the hell is this band let alone the bands paying homage to them. Some kick ass unfornitaly most just don't cut it...But, don't fear this isn't one of those tributes to ignore!! Want to know how to make a good tribute album on the diy style than look no further! First have a good idea of how this is going to be compiled. IE order of songs is rather important!! How many comps have good bands and songs but, when played just don't flow well.. So, in this case the dude was smart and followed the track listing to Romanes Mania. Second get some bands that can either a play these songs or b do good interpations of them. Most these bands do just that regardless of the style of rock and roll they come from. Third don't rush project to point where you cut corners! This dude had some problems with bands flaking out or just not wanting to do what songs were left on the to do list but, he prevailed and a few bands ended up doing two songs but, they're here and there plus it is 30 songs total so, it's not too bad. I wasn't familer with half these bands but, they pulled this off with no problems. Only one track sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Not sure how in the track cutting this was let through perhaps that band is know for sub par recordings in tin cans or after two years the dude doing this project was forced to do with...I could go on with personal reviews of each song but, fuck that I hate reviewers that go through however many songs their may be and give them all a 1 through 10 and bitch if one band wasn't exactly their fav style of punk and how they fucking shouldn't be on a tribute blah blah when tributes are just that a community project and when one puts good bands that put some heart in it. Then it cans sound good to anyone of any style of punk and Rock and Roll. Plus, for 5 bucks you just can't lose either. Wait you can i've bought some shit for cheap and it was Caveat Emperour (let the buyer beware) but, don't fret you've read too much just pick this up if you're a Ramones fan you'll love it!! Ironicly Dee Dee does one of his own songs don't know how that's a tribute but, that seals a tribute if one of the band members covers his own band with a side band project eh!?! And now with only two Ramones living the one no one can remember even though all four names are on that t-shirt of theirs will be the last to die so says the vegas odds.....

State Of Discontent LP

Having been a fan of the Unseen since the mid ninties I at first kinda of found this album to be rather "weak" But, give it a chance if you're a fan of old Unseen cause this album after a few plays is pretty good and has the same raw power that the Unseen is able to pull off. Just wish they'd of left Lars at home. Other than that song it's a pretty damn good album. It's not So this is Freedom but, who cares it's punk and it delivers! Comes on a tasty red vynal for you colored record collectors.....

These guys aren't too bad live but, this album just doesn't live up to their live set...Kinda like the Adolescents second album just not that fun to listen to....If you're looking for some Seattle punk pick up Bristle or Consume..

Thatcher on Acid/Wat Tyle
Yurp Thing CD

Solid 80's UK punk with the second half of the disc being Wat Tyler's solo songs. How to describe this band eh? Well, cross a bit of pistols riffs with some crass ideas and then shake it up with a dash of television personalities and perhaps you have a close resemblance to what Thatcher on Acid was.... The Thatcher half is a good intro to some of the best song's they did and as far as I know this is the only collection of Wat available on CD to this day....This came out origionally on record and cd back in '94 or so... Wat doesn't like cd's so, perhaps thats why his most recent smattering of songs on V/A albums have yet to be compiled..Hopefully down the road we'll see them collected up and release on record or cd...

Angel City Outcasts
Let It Ride (Reissue) CD

A solid 3 1/2 stars really.... This is not bad for a dropkick murphys meets seriously psychobilly rock with a dash of some AC/DC. The songs that really kick some ass are the ones that have more of that Mad Sin feel.... Strangly though I bet these guys are going to cop out and just go for that Dropkick sound which unfortinatly is everywhere and is just losing it's sound... So, if you're a fan of Dropkick's most recent jargen of sub par punk then this be up your alley....

Bouncing Souls
Hopeless Romantic CD

Bloody hell they say third time is the charm....This being the third time I've bought this cd!! The two other copies seemed to have walked away on there own!! This is perhaps the best album by the bouncing souls minus a few quirks. Whats a bouncing souls album without one or two shitty songs. Seriously, I understand the goofyness behind this band and just their straight up just want to have fun East Coast style... But, what the fuck is up with "You're so Rad?!?" I'm also not a fan of the title track, but, it's ok... Songs like kid will have you humming along and singing plus, it has a nice if a tad long bass solo. Another great song is the rather goofy but, fun break up make up break up song "Wish Me Well (You Can Go To Hell)" It's got guest vocals by Kara Wethington. Bullying the Jukebox is a great sing along song about drinking and taking over the jukebox cause your taste in music just sucks. Well, if you want some catchy bass lines and just some fun punk thats not crap and theres only a few that can pull that off this being one of those albums.
