Alkaline Trio/One Man Army
Split Series Vol. 5 CD

As I had be a fan for alkaline trio for some time and a fan of the BYO split series enjoying everyone of their releases I was relishing the chance to get another split with alkaline trio. Before this release I hadnt really listened to One Man Army but this split changed my view on them and has led me to buy some of their full length records, however, the same cant be said for alkaline trio who I felt were weak on this release. Personally, I felt that they were riding the 'dark' conotations thing a bit too much, good mourning there is a prime example (I mean the album title to those confused) what changed from the days were alkaline trio would play a show wearing t-shirts? Now they come out in suits and in particular one show I went to in manchester non too long ago, a kind of gothic type shirt. It reflected in the music too, it is alot darker, and to be honest I dont think anything as good as Maybe I'll Catch Fire or From Here To Infirmary.

In Short, I dislike the dark creepy punk thing alkaline trio have tried to do.

Who's To Blame? CD

This album is brilliant, straight from the get go this album is raw punk energy. Kids of the black hole a significant part in this albums greatness. Indeed I know of not much more to write except buy this is you dont own it, it rules.

Jawbreaker
Dear You (Reissue) CD

This is a great solid album from Jawbreaker, their first, and only on a major label and the quality of the production does wonders for jawbreaker. With the extra songs on the end this album is well worth getting. With the wonderful songs such as, Fireman, Unlisted track and Bad Scene, Everyones Fault are classics that will be played for years to come. This album outshines all their previous efforts and its a shame to have seen this band part ways.

Beginning Of The End... CD

This isnt the beginning of the end at all. Its the beginning of the rise of this band. Freaks Union are easily the best UK band about at the minute and are no doubt going to go a long way still. This album shows how the band have progressed from the last outing, the Ever Glad You Were Dead? CD. The samples used on this CD fit like a glove and the whole band have improved with their instruments brilliantly. With the first song, Wake Up really ringing true, its about time people woke up and listened to what this guys are doing. Homegrown punk at its best. Wishing the world away shows a softer side to the lads, but in my humble opinion works out being the best song on the album. Its well worth getting, and for only $6.75 so its dirt cheap too!

Ever Glad You Were Dead? CD

Ever Glad You Were Dead? nope. Ever glad you bought this CD? Yes. It shows what was to come of this band, although not the same line up as they have now, the songs are still brilliant. The best two songs from this CD is deffinately Ignorance, and from the Backstabbers EP section of the CD, Skaface, both brilliant songs, both from a brilliant band. The Grange Hill Theme Tune is also highly amusing...
