Blank Generation
The Movie DVD

I really love Richard Hell & The Voidoids "Blank Generation" album. If you haven't heard that then do yourself a favor. You will throw your Anti-Flag CD's out the gawddamn window and develop a real sense of what punk rock was suppossed to mean in the first place. This feature film is fiction based on reality. It's the story of Billy (Hell) who falls in love with a french reporter named Nada. Twenty minutes into the film and I thought "Geez these people are sleazy". The setting is in and around CBGB's. It's more of a documentary than anything else featuring the real music, clubs, and people that made up the "original" punk scene in New York City. This is what it's all about kiddies.....

Weirdos
Weird World Vol. 2 CD

Ahhh...The Weirdos. One of the greatest and most underated punk rock bands in the history of rock n' roll. Back in the late 70's Johnny Rotten was quoted as saying that "The Weirdos were fabulous". The Damned jammed on stage with The Weirdos in 77" on their first U.S. tour. The Germs have been given all the credit as being the definitive L.A. punk rock group but if you really take a look you will see that it is in fact The Weirdos who played a major and positive roll in the world's view of the L.A. punk scene. You only have to put on headphones and listen to "Cyclops Helicopter" to understand that their is a lot going on here.

Adicts
Complete Adicts Singles Collection CD

There are a great many creative punk rock bands. The Adicts are up there in my book with bands like The Damned, T.S.O.L., The Misfits, and Rebel Rebel. Bands that rock out but leave you with that spooky vibe. Don't get me wrong, these guys do stand alone. This record is a great one to start out with. Songs like "Steamroller", "Viva La Revolution", "Easy Way Out", and "The Odd Couple" will make this one a pain in the ass to get out of your CD player.

Damned
Final Damnation DVD

This is about the best live document of The Damned "officially" out right now. The first several tracks are a reunion of the original Damned with Brian James on lead guitar. He plays a Telecaster rather than his signature Gibson SG that he used on Damned Damned Damned and Music For Pleasure so the guitar is twangy and mildly distorted. The rest of the set consists of the Machine Gun Ettiquette line-up with Captain on lead guitar. Brian James comes out for a finale of MC5's "Looking At You". This was the highlight of the DVD featuring a duel guitar battle between the Captain and James. Also featured are Rat Scabies setting his drums on fire and Captain stripping naked at the end of the show. Check this out if your a huge fan and a completist but I'm waiting for a future release of a better show to tell you the truth.

Circle One
Are You Afraid? CD

Circle One were the reason your classmates stayed away from punk rock shows in Los Angeles...and they were the reason you went. It depended on how well you recovered from stab wounds and broken bones. Yes, ladies and gents...what you've heard about this band is true...the gangs, the fights, the insanity...it's all here. Buy this CD if you wanna be the coolest kid in your neighborhood.
