A Different Shade Of Green - A Green Day Tribute CD

Hello, I was soooo excited when I found out that someone was actually going to do a Green Day tribute cd, and better yet, that I actually could have had a chance to be on it, or design the artwork, and Green Day just MIGHT happen to buy it and then they would see my ugly artwork or hear my stupid cover, but that would be so awsome. Too bad it didn't work out. Anyways, I was so excited to get this as soon as I could and on the day it came out me and my best friend Sara(also very big Green Day fan) went everywhere looking for it (even though we knew no store would have it except Hot Topic...ugh), and we didn't find it. So I knew that Interpunk would have it. Why you may ask? Why becuase it's the "Ultimate Music Store" silly. Man, I am a ramble box or what, eh? So I ordered it from Interpunk and when it came in the mail I was sooooo excited! I ripped it open and there it was! Ahhhhh!! So I plooped it into a cd player and 2,000 Light Years Away was there. Not too bad of a cover,it just could have been cooler if they made it more original, good job though I guess. Then came F.O.D. That song rocks man. It's really different, and sometimes when I sing the original I confuse the two and start singing the re-make. Then came When I Come Around. That song was okay. At first I was like what the hey is this? Then I thought it was really original and cool that someone took a song like that and remade it into a tencho-e, more rock-e, kinda thing, and not to mention the girl was a singer, that was cool too. Then came all the dookie, (minus She of course). Speaking of She, that song was really good. I don't care about what people might say about his voice being annoying, becuase I thought it was cool, they totally slowed it down, to like a mellow ballad, can you imagine that? Anyway's back to the dookie part.....all the other songs sounded like today's shit pile of music. All emo-e and high vioces trying to be punk, it just doesn't work at all. I mean one band on here took J.A.R. and made it a fucking Ataris song, and that cover of Basket Case was NOT original at all and the guy was soooooooooooooo annoying. Oh yeah, and then there was Redundant, that didn't sound too much diffrent either. I think I'm doing a little too much bashing here. But I love Green Day and even if I knew the whole album was going to be a shipwreck, I still would have baught it. So maybe I'm not that good of a person to ask if the cd is good or not. Well, if someone asked me I would say yeah of course it's Green Day, but on the other hand a lot of the songs are shit. In the long run I would have to say that everyone out there should give it a try becuase it's a tribute cd to the best damn band in the whole length world, and it's not that bad. I believe that everyone who loves Green Day must have it. Wow that was a lot of ranting. Thanks for reading my opinion of this Green Day tribute album. Have a Green Day, Jen-e Johnson

Green Day -1000 Hours 7

Green Day
1000 Hours 7"

This record deserves to be heard by everyone. No one cares if you think only Green Day's "old stuff" is good or not or if you think that they're sellouts...put all that political shit behind and like a band for their music. Anyways, like everyone else has said, all the songs on this record are on 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, but it's pretty sweet seeing the old picture of the Mike and BJ and the mysterious John. Green Day is the best band that ever was so buy the damn cd and enjoy it. P.s. Check out Pinhead Gunpowder, The Frustrators and the Lookouts...all Green Day sideprojects that deserve a listen. Adios
