Keep warm in the middle of this bitter cold winter with these summer filled tunes from Southern California's Regal Beagle! I really dig these songs for what they are...well written, performed, produced classic Lookout era Pop Punk. A must have for any fan of the "Old School" style!! Featuring Joe Queer on Guest Vocals. 14 Tracks. Joe King produced, Mass Giorgini Mastered.

These guys have a mild interest in the Queers, which can be noticed only by those with a trained ear for musical nuances. With their "original" beach-pop punk sound this disc sweeps you away on a wave mediocrity not soon to be matched.

This CD is pretty good Ramones/Queers-style pop punk and is, in fact, produced by Mr. Joe Queer himself. Joe sings lead on "Summertime" (definitely the album's best song) and they do a straightforward cover of "Voodoo Doll". "A Little Tide Up" sounds so much like The Queers that it sounds like it could be a lost Queers album. That being said, I do think the band comes up a little short in the songwriting dept. They may have The Queers' sound down cold but their songs just aren't as good as their primary influence. Many of their songs simply don't stand out or fail to make much of an impression because they're short on catchy melodies. (Recycling the classic 1-4-5 chord progression is only going to get you so far if you don't put a great melody over it.) But when they do craft a catchy tune, they play it convincingly and bring back the mid-90s Lookout era pop punk sound with a vengeance. This is recommended but I hope the band can talk Joe Queer or Ben Weasel into writing the tunes for their next album.

Joe King produced and Mass Giorgini mastered so you know it has got a chance. Some good pop-punk songs here. Joe sings on one song and they do a cover of a Queers songs too. Like I have said before in other reviews; there are not too many modern pop-punk bands that I like. However, this one could fit in there with the ones I do like...such as The Steinways.

These guys sound so much like the Queers, it's scary. Of course Joe Queer did produce the album and sing backing vocals on a lot of the tracks and lead vocal on the "Summertime" track. I like it a lot though, and I think it's much better than some of the Queers CDs of the past several years. My only complaint is that their cover of Voodoo Doll was way too similar..

its good to know some albums can come along and give you an old feeling, like when you first heard pop punk for the first time. this is a soon to be classic. good for fans of the queers and screeching weasel.
