Eighteen Visions have been promising to deliver an album that glistens as well as it growls, rocks as hard as it punches and sounds as good as the band looks. Vanity is that album, distilling the Orange County mob's convoluted, technical Metalcore of yore into blisteringly powerful yet melodiously catchy and instantly memorable songs. The title itself is a playful jab at the band's critics, with a variety of deeper layers behind it that become apparent as the album unfolds. Vanity still pummels and shreds enough to get a Hatebreed audience dancing, but it swings and grooves simultaneously, like the death n' roll of The Haunted or Entombed, and tastes as somberly bittersweet as the Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains or even the Doors. This album will turn heads - invigorating old fans, inviting new ones aboard, changing indifference to enthusiasm and playfully, smugly kissing the unbelievers on the cheek.

Not a bad album but kind of dissapointing for this band. Go buy Until The Inks Runs Out, one of the best hardcore records ever. This album has its moments but doesnt shine like the band's other material.

I was a little skeptical about this cd when I first heard it, but after downloading more tracks I fell in love. This is an extremely well rounded cd with AMAZING breakdowns. The glam rock image is rock and roll to the core. If you like hardcore, then you'll like Eighteen Visions. BELIEVE ME!

Yeah this is a good album, it's just not as great as I thought it would be.
James' voice is excellent, whether he's screaming or singing melodiously, but the singing just doesn't do it for me, the music is just too heavy to have singing, and at times it sounds misplaced and takes away from the crunching riffs and pounding drums.
Yeah a lot of the songs are good, but less singing more screaming next time please James!

Damn!! An awesome cd! Better than Until The Ink Runs Out, in my opinion. I don't understand why on the very cover of this cd there's a sticker on the shrinkwrap comparing this cd to Slipknot and Stone Temple Pilots. I was like what the fuck? Then I put it in and the only comparison was that of the dude's voice and the guy's from STP. Man! I'm pissed though becuase my copy got some sticky shit on the bottom on the first day! and the last 3 songs skip like shit but i STILL listen to it... Get it! a++++++ for godliness!

this is your basic "hardcore" band. a bunch of pretty boys that make really good music. check them out if you listen to hardcore. my first listen i was kinda like "what the hell is this shit", second listen i fell in love, they really grow on you if you like hardcore. THE CRITIC is the best song.
