Not Waving But Drowning

An Anthology Of Sorts (Complete Discography)

Dark Front 4

Released on May 15, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

NWBD was an originator of the spastic yet tuneful art-metal style, releasing their first tape in 1998 while all the future screamo kids were still into rap-metal. The band did five complete U.S. tours, as well as tons of midwest regional dates, during their five year existence. They toured with bands such as Zao, Haste, Snapcase, and even Papa Roach, to mention only a very few. This CD contains ALL of the band's recorded output - 24 tracks, 73+ minutes, all remastered. This includes their long out-of-print and highly saught after 1998 demo tape, their "If It's Too Cute..." full-length (released on Take Hold Records in the U.S. and Household Name Records in Europe), their side of a split 7" with Boywunder, their 2001 tour CD, and several previously unreleased recordings.

I first saw this band live here in Des Moines in 2000 with another band named Kanvas(RIP).I liked them a lot and couldn't find any of there stuff anywhere.I finally broke down and looked on e-bay and found "If It's Too Cute...Set It On Fire."It's alright. The music is great early ninties hardcore. The vocals are kinda irritating after a while. The lyrics are kinda shallow too.Not much innovation.I love some of the guitar picking.Pretty cool.Nothing too special from the rythem section though, but they do what's needed. All in all. It's an o.k. cd.Nothing to rush right out and buy.I don't remember them sounding at all like this years ago, but at that time, I was new to hardcore and things have changed a lot since then which they tend to do.I can't believe some of the members went off to start Open Hand.

Great band. This cd has the entire collection. However some parts of the disc are weak. I really like 'covering ground' and 'you're up next'.
