Temporary Residence

Released on February 19, 2008

Celebrating the release of their new EP "Abyssal", and in conjunction with their forthcoming North American tour, Temporary Residence is re-introducing Envy's colossal back catalog. This collection of singles, rare tracks, and unreleased gems maps Envy's storied transformation from pioneering spastic hardcore to masters of exquisite, triumphant doom. Originally released in 2003 on the group's own Sonzai Records in Japan, it has never been available domestically, nor released on vinyl. "This is everything you've ever wanted doom to be, rife with beautifully picked guitar parts, revelatory screams, the texture we've all come to expect from similar acts (Pelican, Red Sparowes), and the consistency we all wish Boris had" - Skyscraper.

My third envy album, and my mind is blown every time i hear something new of theirs. How can a band make such powerful music? and why does interpunk have to be sold out of their entire back catelogue? and why wont they just tour the US? Right now they are touring with Converge and Planes Mistaken for Stars, A fucking all star tour, i would die to see those shows. Oh well, i still have their music, which is the best heavy music ever made. Track 3 makes me want to laugh and cry uncontrollably, and track 12 shows they can play perfectly live. Any envy fan shouldn't hesitate to buy this and support these amazing musicians. Thank you envy.

Everyone in the world should experience Envy at least one time in their life. Bands like them do not come around often. Buy everything Envy, they must come back to the US again... their live shows are beyond amazing. I love Envy and want to hug Tetsuya.

This is actually Dave Norman from Whitby/Guelph/Waterloo ONTARIO and Stow OHIO.

I really really needed this cd - as I have bid on numerous out of print Envy records on Ebay to no avail. The first 5 tracks on this album are fantastic, but then the early Envy takes hold and I skip about 5 tracks. Then their is one unreleased track (one of the best on the record) and two fantastic live versions which are even heavier than the cd versions. A great album to complete your Envy collection, but don't expect every song to be fantastic like their last 4 releases. Oh and definately pick up their new album, fucking incredible. Thank god for stoner doom atmosphere metal.
