Punk greats honor the man in black. Anchorless Records to donate all profits to The Syrentha Savio Endowment (SSE) Non-Profit Organization providing financial assistance to underprivileged breast cancer patients. Boasting a lineup of punk and alternative rock's most indie minded artists, proudly wearing their hearts on their sleeves while effortlessly blending Punk Rock with Americana, this new homage to the spirit of Johnny Cash is good for the soul and for our communities. Anchorless Records will be donating all the profits of All Aboard: A Tribute To Johnny Cash to the Syrentha Savio Endowment (SSE), a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance to underprivileged women who cannot afford the expense of fighting breast cancer.
Features debut solo performances from Russ Rankin (former front man of seminal punk band Good Riddance), Joe McMahon of Smoke or Fire, and Ben Nichols of Lucero. The tribute also boasts The Bouncing Souls and MXPX, both of whom are Warped Tour mainstays and fixtures in the Punk community. The range of songs chosen include Johnny Cash's first single (The Flatliner's covering "Cry, Cry, Cry") and travels through a long and unparalleled career to the last single released by the Man in Black, "God's Gonna Cut You Down" performed by The Gaslight Anthem. It is our hope that through this record we are able to introduce a new generation of music fans to the songs and importance of Johnny Cash via their favorite artists. The liner notes include quotes from each artist, expressing their feelings on the impact Johnny Cash has had on them both musically and personally.

Do you like Johnny Cash? Do you like Fat Wreck bands and the vocalists from some of those bands and other bands of a similar ilk? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions or parts of these questions then there is a chance that maybe you will like this. How's that for helpful?
Really though, it is kind of a crapshoot. I would have answered 'yes' to all of those questions and I like most of this album, but not all. Obviously, most of the songs themselves are pretty solid, it's just some of the interpretations that are a little boring or annoying. One of my favorites is the Dresden Dolls' cover though, who I normally don't enjoy, so who knows? Give it a shot, I guess.

Some good songs, some bad ones. Kind of a disappointment to be honest. I was expecting certain bands to do better on their covers (Loved Ones and Gaslight Anthem for example), but overall it's a decent tribute. Best artists are: Chuck Ragan and Jon Gaunt, OnGuard, Joe McMahon and Russ Rankin.

You know, when I first read about this CD, I thought I'd die from Sudden Onset Boneritis; but now that I own it, it's pretty hard to get up even enough energy to dig it out of my pile of 'tribute' albums and play it for the second time. Not that it's bad mind you; each group here has done justice to songs they chose. It's just that at the end of the day you could be listening to The Man In Black himself, you know?

Half of these covers are really good and half really suck. Especially The Loved Ones version of "Cocaine Blues" really really sucks, it is really stale how they did that. I like the Loved Ones and "Cocaine Blues" is one of my favorite Cash songs, so I expected alot better than that. Now Ben Nichols (Lucero) version of "Delia's Gone" is excellent. Also worth mentioning are The Sainte Catherines and Russ Rankin. They did awesome covers. If you are a big Johnny Cash fan like me, pick this up. Many good Cash covers here.

See all the different musicians? Do you like them? If you do, buy this. If you don't, don't. If you like Johnny Cash, that's a bonus. I don't really listen to Johnny Cash and still enjoyed this.

I was actually suprised by how good this tribute album is. The bands chosen are pretty disparate from each other and that is a plus. I am not a fan of Johnny Cash. I think his songs are good, but I never felt the need to jump on his bandwagon, still don't, but I love this CD. I got it because I love Lucero (Ben Nichols) and Chuck Ragan. Some of the songs are just downright haunting and all of them are good. Hell, even the MXPX song is damn good! lol
Country, punk and emo are all represented here and they are represented very well. Even if you don't dig Johnny Cash but you like Lucero, Tim Barry or Chuck Ragan then you will like this.
