For Christmas, my brother bought my mom a copy of the Gimmes' "Ruin Johnny's Bar Mitzvah." I'd go into that in more detail, but I don't really know all of the facts. Long story short, my mom fucking loved it. And what else does my mom love? That's right, show tunes. So I bought her this CD, and It didn't disappoint.
I am a big NOFX fan, but never had the money to buy a Gimmes CD, so when I ordered this, I was really excited. I think the sense of humor, which is what I love so much about NOFX, is what makes this band so fucking great. The version of "Favorite things" with the intro from "Generator" is balls ass hilarious!
Anyway, musically this is good ol' pop-punk. Lyrically, well, it's fucking show tunes. It's obviously not "Walk Among Us," London Calling," or "Never Mind the Bollocks." But what it lacks in lyrical originality, it makes up for in listenability and irreverence.
Get it. If not for yourself, for your parents. They'll love it.

Possibly Me First...'s worst album, but it still has it's moments on here. The height of the CD is "Phantom of the Opera" and "Science Fiction Double Feature" a close second. To be honest, the rest is as good as shit. I would recommend any other album by this band. Just don't buy this one.

Of course anything that MFGG puts their hands on turns to gold, but unless you were a theater major in college, alot of these tunes won't strike a chord with you. I dug alot of the tunes, although I had never seen or heard the musical before, but I absoulutely loved "Over the Rainbow" and "Raining on Prom Night"...The rest are just ok...A must have for a true Me First fan and any sicko that spent time in theater...

This album is great if you know showtunes well. i know them well because when i was young i used to go to broadway shows with my dad. the true highlight on this album is phantom of the opera. i would recommend this to any true me first fan. i saw me first at warped tour last week, they were one of the best bands there, catch them if they go on their own tour, you won't be dissapointed.
