I was sure wanting more leatherface music so I figured I couldn't go wrong with a tribute. High expectations, and at first I quite liked it surpisingly. After many listens I can still say its not half bad, some standouts including saint catherines, mike margarelli, popzillas, and of course many average. Hot Water Musics "Springtime" was quite a letdown. It seems there should be a little more creativity in doing covers but many songs seem to lack any sort of style in my opinion. If your a leatherface fan than pick it up. That is all.

This is my first and only tribute cd i own and I guess i was expecting more from this album. When i think of a tribute band cd, i think of a bunch of bands who are influenced by this certain band, and play one of their songs in their own style. I was a bit disappointed with some of the bands. Their are some great killer tracks which have used the same leatherface lyrics and chords but altered it to make the song in their own style, if it's faster, slower, or acoustic. But alot of the bands just played the songs as they were, and sounded too much like the original leatherface songs. I love Chuck Ragan's cover and Sainte Catherines. I love leatherface, but i was expecting a bit more of a different style.

This is one of the very few tribute albums that's good enough to be of interest even to someone who might not be a fan of the artist to whom tribute is being paid. It's energetic and enthusiastic throughout, and there's a diverse mix of styles, with punk, emo, hardcore, folk, country, and even a little electronica (on For The Day's surprisingly listenable rendition of "Live For You.") There are a few weak spots (and I doubt anyone except fanatical Tom Waits fans are going to listen to The Gunshy's rendition of "In My Life" more than once), but on the whole this is fantastic; and on the second disc, in particular, there are four songs—Kover's "Wax Lyrical," Sinkin' Ships' awesome "Peasant In Paradise," Erase Today's "Games," and 2 Pump Louie's "Not A Day Goes By"—that can almost stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the originals, even for a Stubbs devotee like me. Well done, Rubber Factory; now get to work on the Jesse tribute.
