No Good For No One Now

(Mike From American Football)

Polyvinyl 55

Released on November 19, 2002

Mike Kinsella has been busy. In the last two years, he went from playing in AMERICAN FOOTBALL to writing and recording solo as OWEN, as well as touring on RAINER MARIA and KYLE FISCHER's last four tours. OWEN has been a logical leap for Mike, as he was the singer/songwriter in AMERICAN FOOTBALL, as well as spending years in bands such as CAP'N JAZZ, JOAN OF ARC, and OWLS. This album is a beautiful continuation of the work he did on last year's self-titled debut, which was met with much critical success.

Funny thing I finally went back to this site to review the Owen S/T and basically was like what took me so long to buy that one and I had to get another (or two). Essentially the same applies here. I loved this cd the first time I played it and here is another month plus that passed, but I came back here to order another two other Owen cds and some other stuff.

I've really become a huge American Football/Owen fan in the last couple years. Whenever I think that I heard most of the best music that could be found...stuff like this comes along. This also led me to another incredible indie label from Michigan that doesn't have a representation here, but -I Count Your Lucky Stars- since I found it.

Mike Kinsella just writes such heart felt and emotional music this is another 5 star album from him.

I'm a big fan of Mike Kinsella (Cap'n Jazz, American Football, OWLS, etc.), and this CD just magnifies my respect for his talents. He is truly a great songwriter and musician, and this CD is very musical. It might be slow and quiet, but the content is so rich and fulfilling, you won't be put to sleep. I fully reccommend this to any fan of quieter music.
