You And I

Curtain Falls

Level Plane 4

Released on November 1, 1999

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The final recording from this legendary New Jersey band. Combining the greatests aspects of bands like Lifetime, Unbroken, Converge, to name a few, but adding their own style to the mix, more so on this album than on their earlier efforts. You and I songs are often quite ecclectic in styles, but they seem to always pull them off so smoothly. There are mosh parts, sing alongs, all the parts every good band should have. This record seems to even show hints of grind, too. However, they always maintain their melodic base that made so many people fall in love with this band.

Have you ever bought an underground CD based on reputation and then when you got it you could not help but be a little bit let down that the hype mislead you. Well, this is not one of those situations. The recording is just rough enough, the chaotic moments, the melodic moments. This is truly influential stuff, you could search this site and find hundreds of water down versions of this type of music, but why not just grab this, it has really cool samples between the tracks and that is the last thing I needed to say.

this is incredible. quite possibly one of my favorite cd's i own actually. buy this if you're into emo or screamo, or whatever you wanna call it. great clips in between each song. every time i listen to this i listen to it all the way through. passionate and meaningful lyrics, and amazing notes and packaging. yeah, it's good.

Hey kids, this is what emo or whatever that crap on MTV was supposed to sound like. Six years ago it seemed a great movement on the horizon. Unfortunately You and I weren't marketable enough and now shitty bands rule, but what's different. Geoff Rickly, from Thursday hosted You and I's last show at his house, and You and I's influence on the band's that came from that scene; immesurable. Curtain Falls is brilliant.

I bought this album on a complete whim. I had never heard You and I before, but I am a huge fan of Level Plane and many of the bands on the label, so I decided to give this album a try. My conclusion is that You and I is a pretty good band, but nothing amazing. 143 (JCM), however, is a great song.

This one of the best CDs I own. Seriously, You and I is an amazing band and I am sad I did not buy this sooner. They sound like Saetia meets Joshua Fit For Battle, kind of, with more singing. "Tell Me About Your Childhood" is easily one of the best songs ever, and I would buy this album just for it. Their dynamics are great, and the songs are a nice blend of chaos and melody. They play old jazz at beginning and end of all their songs and rip off Indian Summer, because they're just that good that they can get away with it. Every song on this here is outstanding, the lyrics are amazing, and the packaging is cool. Buy it now if you're into emo.

Also, just for the record, although there are less songs on this CD, it is much better than their "Discography" CD. So buy this one first.

I like this CD a lot, thrashing hardcore, with melodic parts. The lyrics move to more political aspects(child abuse, oblectifying women) but there are also the more personal songs as well. My favorites are Tell me About Your Childhood, and 143(jcm), but all the songs are pretty good, it's a relatively short disc. Cool layout as well.

This You and I is one of the most raw and intense cds you can buy. The lyrics are amazing and the cd booklet is worth owning all by itself. Very insightful and inspirational, if you will.... Just buy this CD, its worth it.

words don't do this justice. band comparrisons don't do this justice. i'm about to not do this justice. you and i is absolutly incredible. "tell me about your childhood" is so good i can't even beleive it. their politics are amazing and so is their music. this is what screamo is, not thrice, not poison the well, and not finch or whatever other shitty bands they are calling screamo these days. this is more like thursday, on the might of princes, and saetia all rocking out at the same time. i can't beleive i just said all that. it doesn't do this record justice. buy this as well as the discography. rock.

....speechless. this cd is incredible. pure DC emo. it is insanely hardcore in parts, then melodic and slow. its progressive in its own way, and the lyrics are incrredibe. it comes with commentary from the band (who broke up in '99) and is just an amazing cd, BUY ITTT!!!!!!!!
