"It's beautiful and it's sad, but it's all that I have," Blake Schwarzenbach sings on Perfecting Loneliness, the first album from JETS TO BRAZIL in over two years. Not that beauty and sadness are anything new to JETS TO BRAZIL. When everyone last heard from the band, they had delivered Four Cornered Night, a melancholy mix of folk, rock, country, and just about everything in between. Inspired by Four Cornered Night's ambitious nature, the band has returned with Perfecting Loneliness: a mirrorball of sound that reflects a clearer, more focused JETS TO BRAZIL. Perfecting Loneliness represents not so much a continuation of the band's previous gestures, but a better understanding of them. Now, the melodies flow out of Schwarzenbach-the JETS' brave blend of angular rock, epic balladry and really cool keyboard noises front and center-as his guitar (or piano) gently weeps. Beautiful and sad? Absolutely. But Perfecting Loneliness is all the better for it.

this is a Damn good disk. I will admit I like Orange Rhyming Dictionary better for 4 reasons 1)Starry Configurations 2)King Medicine 3)I Typed For Miles 4)Sweet Avenue. if you allready have that CD I think you will agree. that does not mean this CD is bad, it is a great add to your collection.

Ah....Jets to brazil. Perfect for a rainy day. If you liked the last album you will like this one better. Well that is if you were me! Seriously perfecting loneliness has really heartfelt lyrics that are hard to come by these days. I don't know what category they would be in besides just good music. JTB always plays what they feel. You can hear the honesty in blake's voice. My personal favorite song is "WishLisT" #6. Anyway if you are feeling lonely, then JTb Let's you know you are not the only one.

this is my favorite jtb cd. it is missing something from orange rhyming dictionary, but i dont really mind. id pick up this cd and 'ord' if youre starting to get into the slower, more emotional rock. also see 'modest mouse'.

What a great CD. Blake and company do it again with this CD. All I can say is if you are a fan of bands like Jimmy Eat World or even some Saves the Day, you'll love this band. Get this CD.

First and foremost, the term "emo" is gay and should be removed from the world's vocabulary. All good music is emotional. "Emo" has no bearing on what this music is and isn't.
With that said you little British pansy, I will agree with you and say that this is a great ablum, although i didn't give it a full five stars being that it loses me lyrically in certain parts, namely, the line in "disgrace" about picking up one's guitar to fight a revolution. I'm sorry, but that's just hippy bullsh*t...However, it evens out with the line, "We put a monkey in the white house." That line convinced me to pick this ablum up. So if you like chill, melodic rock with ethreal, witty lyrics about unrequited love, you may like this album...
Take no offense my friend from the UK...It's better somebody told you how ridiculous people like you sound...

Blake Schwarwassisname is the uncrowned king of emo - much like the Turin shroud, there's a moist tear filled tissue somewhere with the image of little Blake imprinted in it forever.
Thankfully this album leaves behind much of the sappiness of 'Four Cornered Night' (i.e. no songs about loving his quilt, his sunglasses etc etc etc) and the title track could even be a Jawbreaker outtake.
Face it, the guy's a miserable loser in love, not quiet as pathetic as the guy from Dashboard Confessional (how the hell does HE get laid in the first place!??) but a loser all the same....think that's why it appeals to me! The enigma that is woman and love lost is explored fully and in the most melodic emo filled way possible.
It's genius, you know it, I know it, now stop bickering and listen.

perfecting loneliness is definitely an amazing album without question... it's a beautiful composition, both lyrically and musically. it does move slow at times, this is why i gave it a 4/5, but it doesn't get so bad that you have to skip a song or rip it out of the cd tray in disgust. i highly recommend this album to any fans of the "emo" genre. so emo kids grab your glasses and hit the play button. get their other cds too... especially if you're looking for faster paced material. if i could i'd give it 4.9 stars... almost a 5.

This is a great album, but like the booklet, it feels a bit empty and faceless.
There are some endearing moments, and beautiful lyrical bits ("I was putting my sh*t in the car when the copters came...") But it's just moments. There are no songs that really jump out of the album and make you shake your head in the beauty of them...
like "7 STARS" for example.
Who knows. Maybe I'm just becoming a better songwriter myself...or maybe I need to listen to it more.

The best JTB realease, so good! Every song is good, my favorite though has to be wish list. The cd extra part is pretty gay, but its got over an hour of rad music. Be warned it is alot slower than Orange Ryhming Dictionary, but you should definelty buy it! Nothing more to say other than this is the best cd i've bought all year. But it now!
