Caution

Epitaph 86650

Released on October 8, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

True to it’s title, Caution immediately demands the listener’s undivided attention. With a unique blend of heartfelt punk, guttural rock, and explorative neo-hardcore, Hot Water Music shirks categorization on Caution. Immediate and infectious on “Trusty Chords,” a feral rocker that works off a pop blueprint, the band emphasizes variety as it glides into the rhythm-steeped “One Step To Slip” and the cathartic “I Was On A Mountain.” Further demonstrating HWM’s depth, Caution sees the band careen from the circle-pit stylings of “Wayfarer” to the subtle yet frenetic underpinning of “Alright For Now” with artful management. “We’ve never tried to be anything but what we are,” say’s bassist Jason Black. “Musically, we’ve never wanted to define ourselves at all.” And in keeping with that assessment, the Gainesville, Florida foursome differs from virtually every other band making punk-inspired sounds in 2002. On Caution – the group’s second disc for Epitaph – HWM drives home the point that music should be more about substance and skill and less about red hair dye.

I had this album back in 2002 and I was kind of burnt out on HWM at the time, so I didn't give it much of a chance. So now i'm back into Hot Water Music again and i'm listening to this CD for the first time in years. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GOOD "CAUTION" IS!!!! To me this release follows closely behind "No Division" as one of their best albums. If you don't belive me...check out the songs "Remedy", "Trusty Chords", "No For Anyone", and so on. Amazing stuff!

There's some songs I really enjoy on this record and there are some boring songs. I'm not that die hard of a HWM fan though I do like them and own a few of their records. Decent CD, I liked No Division better I think.

This is proberly my 2nd favourite HWM release, if your gonna by a HWM CD for the 1st time, i suggest 'No Division' its there best by far, but you cant go wrong with this one and flight and a crash

I wasn't into HWM before this album, but after this one I am a big fan. I had seen them play a few times before and thought they were great live but never captured there presence on recording until this one. I since have fallen in love with their older stuff too, but this is where it all started for me. This disk is easily one of the best I have heard, ever.

if you like hot water music you should definitely pick this album up. chuck's vocals are gruffy as hell and full of southern rage. hot water music works hard as hell to release this stuff.. it doesn't kick ass for no reason. buy it! you won't regret it !!!

The cd was not a good as i thought it woud be. I think HWM could have done better. I am a devoted fan i just think that their true talent was not displayed.

This cd is another decent album you may want to own, but it doesn't do a lot for me. It's kind of mid-toned and I'm not generally into things like that. The singer is quite hard to understand which sometimes takes away from hot water music, but if you're a fan this probably won't kill you to try out. I give it a two mostly to keep up with my scaling on my other reviews and that I'm not really into slower stuff.

This is Hot Water Music's newest release and it's different from the rest of the cd's I own by them. Less fast paced songs in this one. Either way it is a good cd.

This is a great band, this is the their first album I have bought and I am very impressed. I also had the chance to see them live in the States this year and really enjoyed their show.

If you like HWM though I should recomend you to try to get your hands on some G.a.s. Drummers. Their new (third) album "Dialectics" (www.bcoredisc.com) or even their second one "The True Charm Of Bourgeoisie" (available here at interpunk) are awesome. 4 Spanish guys who will rock you 'till your head spins off!!!.
