This is one of the greatest EPs of all time, no doubt about it. The insanity of Mike Patton mixed with Dillinger Escape Plan's sheer talent and out of control technicality creates an amazing, almost terrifying, experience. This is some of the best work Dillinger Escape Plan has ever done and I can support this cd whole-heartedly. I mean, if you can listen to "When Good Dogs do Bad Things" without your jaw completely dropped then you may have no soul.

Dillinger is highly technical and chaotic and Mike Patton is simply put a genious, what happens when you put these two creative forces together? Why you get this ep which is nothing short of breathtaking, can get a little too crazy at times, but it does not take away from the overall experience. An absolute must buy if your looking for something different.

This cd is amazing. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for this band to release their new album, but listening to Irony is able to tide me over for now. Yes, Patton's vocals are a bit different, but the great thing about this cd is that the vocals aren't emphasized over the actual composition. On Irony, the vocals are used just as much for effect as the actual instrumentation, which, I might add, contains some very cool ethinic percussion (has anybody heard Ars Moriendi?) Also, the dynamic contrast creates many moments of surprise, one of the most obviously intentional aspects of this cd. The guitar work in track 2 is especially nice. The first three tracks on this cd are incredible, and although the disk loses a bit of momentum with the fouth and final track, the cd is still a must have in my opinion. It's definitly worth the price. The Dillinger Escape Plan is slowly making 'math core' one of my favortie genres. Everybody check out: Horse the Band, Norma Jean, The Blood Brothers

All praise Mike Patton. A musical genious. Yeah, I know he's only a guest on this cd, but I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. The only drawback is its extremely limited song list, but oh well. Mike Patton is my personal jesus and should be worshipped by all puny mortals. If you see MP's name on ANYTHING, buy it or fear for your worthless souls.

Im not sure if i can really judge this cd fairly. Although i had heard them on numerous occasions, this was the first album of thier's that i puchased. This cd, by it self, is excellet. The music truely takes "math" metal a step further by having a complicated vocal section (courtesy of mike patton of Mr.Bungle) as well as oddly timed guitar, bass, and drums.
But as i said before, i can't compare this to any of thier other efforts so i can't really tell you if this cd amounts to crap or not. I loved it but thats just me.

This cd met all my expectations from a band of this caliber! This album shows how the DEP has progressed since their 1st album. Patton's style is well complimented by the fast time changes and technical playing. Any fan of Mike Patton or DEP will be amazed! This is worth every penny!

okay, first of all i would like to start by saying i am a big dillenger escape plan fan..and when i bought this cd, i had not heard any of there stuff with mike patton..so, the first listen had me a bit let down..because patton, OBVIOUSLY isnt used to metalcore/hardcore vocals, but tries his hardest to make it appear as he has been doing this his entire life..but upon my 2nd and 3rd listen to the cd..i sorta warmed up too it..and i do like the aphex twin cover, bar the fact i hate aphex twin.

I'd never thought of Dillinger Escape Plan as a good band until I heard about this CD, now I'm totally changed around. Being a huge Mike Patton fan I guess I'm biased, but these four tracks really are quality.
Starting with a blast of noise and Patton's trademark schizophrenic vocals in Hollywood Squares, the theme continues throughout the album, with excellent use of samples and keys at appropriate points, as well as ripping guitars and pounding drums. What genre it falls into is more tricky to talk about, is it metal? metalcore? hardcore? Whatever, it rules supreme, buy it now!

This is some weird, trippy shit. I don't know if I'd recommend the purchase of this CD. I wouldn't even know how to describe it. It's just noise, but it sounds pretty good. Here's an idea. Listen to it and then decide for yourself.

Four songs of pure INSANITY! AHHHHH! Patton's vocals are very original, but they're also really strange. It takes awhile to get used to them, but the 3 original songs on this CD al rock hard. DEP and Patton clash well together, but every now and than Patton will go off and start singing, and it starts sounding more like Mr. Bungle instead of Dillinger. I hope the next DEP CD goes back more towards Calculating Infinity with their new singer. But this is an interesting project they did, and it's rad to see a band experimenting with different singers like that. Overall, I'd say it's worth the money. Except I think Aphex Twin sucks.
