An Albatross

Eat Lightning, Shit Thunder

Bloodlink 37

Released on June 22, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

An activism of physics, an enunciation of the voice itself against the unuttered, a battalion for a broader lucidity. Sometimes seen as a revelation, but more often as revulsion inspiring, their logo is plaster'd on lamp posts, sticker'd under toilet bowl lids, stencil'd on sidewalks. Worldwide, from the Ghettos of Philadelphia to the Jungles of Chiapas, the mysterious mullet'd, bar code forehead'd, and mustachio'd man, smiles with an all-knowing look, a frightening mirror image of American "safety-cut" proletarianism. Behind the now-familiar-as-Andre-The-Giant epic spoof visage is AN ALBATROSS ( 2, bird 3. Cake collective), whose public carnival style art pranks, encourage the boycott of consumer capitalism. The CD contains the songs from the LP, plus bonus video footage, and an advanced multimedia section featuring video, text and other fun stuff.

Bizarrely, frighteningly amazing.

I suppose if you were trying to classify An Albatross, you'd call them "electronic grindcore"... but they're not really grindcore... think "technical insanity on plastic", and you're about 25% there.

Every track is incredible, and they all sparkle and shine with the revolutionary politics of dance.

If you're at all interested in music that's just a smidgen different, anticapitalism, or anything involving a synthesizer, check An Albatross out. Obtain both this album and "We Are the Lazer Viking"; they're both scintillating.
