If you have never seen or heard the vandals at all, then you probably haven't seen this DVD... Unless a friend showed it to you... If this is your introduction to the vandals, give them another chance... I say go with Live At The House Of Blues.... with that one you get a free CD....or if you buy it on CD you get the DVD free... But seriously this is my least favorite Vandals Live DVD... its actually quite boring... Funny, but too long for what it is...

Yup, Christmas is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate the birth of the wonderful baby Jesus than to watch a Christmas concert by The Vandals? Well "Oi To The World" is a classic Vandals album that I would highly recommend to everyone; this DVD on the other hand has a few problems that just keeps me from considering it a pure classic.

The Vandals perform almost all of the Oi To The World album here in this DVD with greatness, including a rocking version of "Christmas Time For My Penis." The only exclusions are "Dance Of The Sugarplum Fairies" and "Here I Am Lord" which kind of sucks cause the Sugarplum instrumental is great and seeing Joe Escalante try to sing his version of "Here I Am Lord" live would have been flat out hilarious in my book. But those exclusions can be forgiven.

They also include some other Vandals classics into the set-list like It's A Fact, Behind the Music, My Girlfriend's Dead, People That Are Going To Hell, Live Fast Diarrhea, I Know Huh, and I Have A Date... however all but 2 of those songs are on the much better quality Vandals “Live At The House Of Blues” DVD that was made not too long after this DVD was made.

So now let me get to some of the problems with the DVD. First of all, the camera work is pretty bad compared to the later DVD concert releases that Kung-Fu Records has put out. I doubt that they planned for the best shots around the venue before-hand and when the band is talking to the crowd you get some of the worst camera shots. 2nd: the lighting at this show seemed to be way too bright that when Dave takes off the jacket of his tux his shiny white shirt is just a huge bright blur on the screen. 3rd: They admitted in the commentary that they did some over-dubs & changing of the audio to repair some live mess ups that happened so if your one of those people that loves RAW footage with all the mess ups in their glory then you might have some objections to this DVD. Personally I don't think its much to worry about but I know some people really hate shit like that. 4th: When you click to listen to the audio commentary there are times when the commentary just isn't loud enough that you can barely hear what someone like Joe is saying. I think the Vandals are extremely hilarious fellows so it just sucks that I have to turn the volume all the way up at times just to hear something.

So in conclusion I think its a great Vandals performance on a flawed DVD but I can't really blame them entirely because this was one of the first actual concert DVD's that Kung Fu Records made and put out so they were probably working out all the kinks and trying to learn from their mistakes because later down the line they put out the Vandals “Live At The House Of Blues” DVD and that one is just perfect and has none of the audio or visual flaws that this DVD has. So despite this DVD's flaws I still think that it's an overall decent DVD that just could have been perfect had it been done today with all the know-how that Kung Fu Records has nowadays in filming concerts for DVD's.

So now that I'm done with my super long ass review, please still note that the Vandals are awesome and that if you are a big Vandals fan then you should still purchase this item. If you are new to the Vandals then I suggest purchasing this DVD later on but as for right now you should defiantly buy the "Oi To The World" album because that's the perfect CD to get yourself into the holiday season.

This Vandals live Christmas show is definitly worth every penny, spend the cash, you'll have enough. It was even produced and edited by Vandals bassist Joe Escalante. The quality is great and the performance itself is amazing. Dave, Warren, Josh and Joe all must be robots because I've never seen a tighter band than this in my life. These 21 year punk veterans know how to put on an amazing show and there are even some surprise guest appearences on it! So don't be a fool and think twice about buying an Anti-Flag T-Shirt, spend your money elsewhere, better yet, spend it on this!

I really like the vandals but I do not think that this DVD is that good. It is not the Vandals fault but more the audience. They are so lame. They don't jump, scream and go insane. They're fucking boring and it makes the concert a little stale. The music is great though but I think that sweatin to the oldies is a much cooler concert even though the songs on this one are better.
