High On Fire

Surrounded By Thieves

Relapse 6529

Released on May 21, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The second thunderous roar from these San Jose's low-end gargantuans led by former SLEEP axemaster MATT PIKE. Eight massive tracks of psych-sonic destruction, blown hell-high with all-intense mammoth groove riffing, cannon-shot percussion, elephantine bass, and throat-damaged war-cry vocals. Prepare to be slaughtered.

Goddamn, High On Fire is so fucking awesome. Many describe this band as sounding like Motorhead meets Slayer, and that's not too far off. These guys are loud and heavy and can play, but they not overly technical, which is something I dislike about many metal acts. For fans of the previously mentioned Slayer and Motorhead, as well as Celtic Frost, Venom, Sleep, Black Sabbath, and Lair Of The Minotaur.
