You just have to get this if you are a Green Day fan. I know this is a re-issue of the orginal vinyl but its still worth getting. The orginal had a catalog number of 17 - this is 35. Catalog number 17 was only pressed 1000 times i think that were sold at shows and given to family and friends. Its contains both original tracks and a cover of "Knowledge" by fellow 924 Gilman Street band Operation Ivy. They still play this track at every show to this day.

All these 4 tracks appear later on an album called 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours which is also on Lookout Records. But with Green Day taking their collection off that label due to unpaid royalties, I recommend you get all Green Day releases on Lookout now, because they're not making them anymore. Green Day will probably release the back collection again on another label, either on Billie Joe's label "Adeline Records" or on Warner Brothers "Reprise Records".

But back onto the Slappy EP - even if you dont own a reord player, and are a Green Day fan. I recommend you buy this - it brings you back to their old days of the late 80's when they were only another Oakland Bay Area band.

Four of my favourite Green Day tracks make up this 7",the best of which is in my view Paper Lanterns. This was the better of the two Lookout Records 7"s from Green Day in my own opinion, and although the songs can be picked up on the 1,039... CD to have the 7" single is nice.Sadly since Green Day just ended their connections to Lookout records,it looks like this is the last we'll be seeing of either Slappy or 1,000 hours,so if you failed to pick them up here on time, there's always Ebay, although I won't be letting mine go anytime soon! One of the best releases on Lookout Records, bet you wish you ordered faster eh?Still,if you didn't get it on time,at least buy 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, because these songs are well worth looking into.

Good songs from the early Green Day with Mike on drums. These songs can be found on 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, so you don't need to buy it. But if you're a collector, you're stupid not to buy this one.

This 7" is more than worth the few bucks it costs. This is good, sincere, basic pop punk similar but SUPERIOR to what blink 182 tried to pull off but failed because of lack of sincerity and are instead now known mostly as a poser band. (Playing naked is nothing new, Green Day did it way before them and looked better!) All 4 songs on this record are awesome but their version of Operation Ivy's Knowledge is priceless!!! Friggin hilarious!!! In fact, the record is worth the money just for that song! The songs on this record accompany some of my happiest memories from the early 90's when Green Day was just starting out and I was a curly-haired freak suffering thru elementary school. And the cover with the picture of the little rascals dog makes me smile every time I take it out to play it. YOU NEED TO OWN THIS!!! HURRY UP AND BUY ONE BEFORE ALL THE COLLECTORS' SNATCH THEM UP!!! QUICK!!!

With these 4 songs being re-released with the 39 Smooth LP some time ago, one would be a bit hesitant to purchase this since we've all heard these songs many times. It's a collecter's item none the less, so I strongly recommend it to a Green Day fan, but only after picking up the 1,000 Hours 7." Long Live Green Day-American Idiot Kicks Ass

This is Dan not Patti. This is a great 7". It has 4 great old green day songs, Paper Lanterns, Why do you want Him?, 409 In Your Coffee Maker, and Knowledge which is a cover of Operation Ivy. All of the songs are great, even the cover of Op Iv. I thought they did a great job with it. My favorite song was "Paper Lanterns". It's only 4 bucks. Buy it.

Everyone thinks Green Day and offspring and blink 182 suck because they are on majors. Hmm...ramones started the fucking movement and they were on a major as well as the Clash, Blondie, Stooges, Misfits, dickies, and on and on. Anyways, they couldn't stay on an indie because the demans would have put the label out of business. THis is old old 7" before their 1st LP. Has op Ivy Knowledge cover. Cool little rascals reference on the cover.
