Justin Sane

Life, Love And The Pursuit Of Justice

A-F 18

Released on April 23, 2002

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The front man of ANTI-FLAG goes solo! "JUSTIN SANE is the BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN of Punk Rock!" raves The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. After 10 years of playing guitar and singing his heart out for peace punks ANTI-FLAG, JUSTIN SANE has put together a collection of solo material he wrote and recorded during time off from ANTI-FLAG. This 12-song "urban folk" record highlights JUSTIN SANE's diverse and strong songwriting skills, as he breaks away from ANTI-FLAG'S hardcore punk sound for one more reminiscent of BILLY BRAGG or ELLIOT SMITH. A release one would expect to find on MATADOR, KILL ROCK STARS, or SYMPATHY FOR THE RECORD INDUSTRY, JUSTIN SANE's voiced is backed only by his semi-distorted guitar. JUSTIN SANE also breaks away from the traditional ANTI-FLAG mold in the area of lyrics. While many tracks on this record are sure to encourage political discourse, song topics also delve into topics like love, boxing, growing up, and cross-country road trips. Creative and interesting enough to appeal to indie fans, but ironic and cynical enough to please the most crass punk rockers, the crossover potential for this record is huge!

I really like this CD a lot. Then again, i like this type of music more then kids who would listen to Anti-flag and that type of music. Justin does get lame at some points on the record, but overall i really do like it, and some of the songs are just great for their message. There are some really amazing songs on here. but you could take it or leave it. So yeah, i suggest this to kids who like to slow things up some. I also say, hey if you listen to AF, and that type of music, just give this a try. its worth it.

I got this album hoping for a Jeff Ott feel. Maybe even a political Dashboard Confessional. Regardless of that, this album surprised me. I liked it a lot. Most of the songs are very thoughtful, and his vocals are pretty good. I love the harmonies he throws in in a few of the songs too. So yeah, it does sound kinda like a pissed off dashboard that sings about things that matter more then girls. I am really glad I got this album, and I hope that he makes another one.

this is the greatest best songs are "61c Days Turned To Nights", "We Found A Place (These Are The Days)", "Tommy Gun" and "The Critical Writing Assignment" there are some things i dont like about it i dont really like the song "If It's Good For The Economy, I'm For It!" that much but its ok and i dont like how he starts talking during "Thanks For The Letter (From A Kinder, Gentler America)" but those are the only flaws i see in it; WARNING to anti flag fans its nothing like anti flag its alot mellower, slower and the songs arent really about politics

Justin Sane= Great Vocalist... With anti-flag. I'm a big fan of anti-flag so that inspired me to buy this record. But it wasn't quite what I was expecting... I didn't like all the distortion he used in songs like "we found a place" or "where has my country gone?" if these songs where going to lack drums.

I think the best tracks were "Tommy Gun", "Cassete Deck, Road trip, grand canyon" and "For Pat"(For pat had well used distortion.)I think that songs like "The Critical Writing Assignmet" and "If it's good for the economy, I'm for it!" should have been faster. The lyrics were great though. This guy is a great songwriter.

Plus... who doesn't enjoy Mr. Justin Sane saying the word "FUCK". It's like he goes...ffffffUUUUUccck! Still this was a good record. I like faster music though. In resume, this lacked speed and gave more distortion than needed.I think fans of matchbox romance or saves the day are going to enjoy this album more than fans of the unseen or the dead kennedys for that matter.
