Liars

They Threw Us All In a Trench and Stuck a Monument On Top

Mute 9187

Released on August 20, 2002

$13.75
Buy

A shocking debut album from NYC based LIARS combines raucous dance, hip hop and punk beats for high-energy heart-and-soul fire-eating that, somehow, morphs into song. Pat Nature, bassist for the defunct Midwest SHUDDER-TO-THINK-like group, OPIUM TAYLOR and Ron Albertson former drummer of MERCY RULE (see Don Zientara, Lou Giordano and Caulfield Records) seduce the rhythms like veins looking for blood.

this album will stab in the eye then through you around. the sound of punk will eat a hole through you and your sister. this is not punk for you little girls that like blink 182 or rancid. this is closer to what punk was ment to be. not the big "pac sun" add that punk rock has become. get this album if you want sweet music.

This definitely isn't for everyone. If you don't like drum machines, don't buy this. If you don't like having a band fuck around with you via the packaging, don't buy this.

Wait, why am I dwelling on the bad things about it? This album kicks ass. Buy it for "Mr You're On Fire Mr", which has to be the "feel-good hit of the autumn". I guarantee you that this is exponentially better and more enjoyable than anything that Dashboard Confashionable puts out, or any music that you listen to.

P.S.: Buddyhead is for the children
