Owen

"OWEN is Mike Kinsella. For nearly ten years now, Mike has been in some of Chicago's most loved bands, AMERICAN FOOTBALL, CAP'N JAZZ, JOAN OF ARC, and OWLS. Of those, he has probably been most closely associated with AMERICAN FOOTBALL, in which he did much of the song writing and guitar-playing, and all of the singing. With OWEN, Mike takes AMERICAN FOOTBALL's sound to it's next logical level. Mike wrote and performed this entire record by himself: guitars, drums, bass, vocals, everything. It's got all of the hooks and charm that has turned AMERICAN FOOTBALL's only album into one of Polyvinyl's catalog items!

Wow what the hell took me so long to get a Owen album? I was already a massive fan of American Football. Anyways this one here very much sounds like a American Football album. Every song has a point and is a instant classic pretty much. Just the tone, the pacing and the words in the songs on the album are delightfully bitter and wistful.

Anyways this is truly heartful emotional music. Other artists wish they could achieve this kinda level of music/feeling. See music can be slow/thoughtful/reflective and amazing. F' the mainstream! I can't say enough good things about this cd.

I heard every one of his songs on the lala website. If I was going to suggest another Owen cd to get (as well as this one) personally I would go with 'No Good for No One.' I know I'm going to buy it one of these days.

This cd is good, but i just cant seem to really get into any other Owen albums except for "I Do Percieve." That album just kicks soooo much ass its hard to live up to. It is also hard to get into because I love American Football so much. I dunno, it's worth checking out but i would make sure to get I do Percieve first.

If you liked American Football along w/ many of the polyvinyl acts you'll love this album. Its full of quirky little add ons to the accoustic guitar melodies that almost remind me of the postal service in that ambient beauty sort of way. This album creates it's own instant atmosphere that leaves you feeling refreshed and suprisingly content. I listen to a wide range of music and this was the perfect headliner for my "chill" department. Worth the money!

Ive heard so so much about Owen, Id already had American Football and loved it so i decided to get it and boy is it good, very intricate acoustic guitar backed up by superb lyrics and a soft delivery makes this a must for an fan of beautiful music. If like me ur sick of the whole emo thing, buy this and be blown away. No sidepartings or black nails here, just brutaly honest music with a dumpertruck full of emotion. A great cd to listen to with your loved one.

Owen Rocks! this guy is amazing, whether im falling asleep to this cd or listening to it in my car, this is great! The latest owen release is just as perfect but, before getting owen, or any of mike kinsella's other cd's you have to the American football full-length, a true classic and an inspiring cd. BUY IT!!

A beautiful sounding record. It has hints of Joan Of Arc, which is a good thing; as it tends to pick the more tunefull parts and looses the irritating aspects of Joan Of Arc's 'i'll do what i like, even if it sounds bad' sound. It reminds me of a less contrived and cheesy Dashboard Confessional.

Awwwwww! i love this cd. the girl above already mentioned how she listens to it to fall asleep and i do the same. it is one of the most beautiful cds i have ever heard. the acoustic melodies he creates are amazing. even when there are no words, it is still remarkable. I totally and completely recommend buying it! if you don't get it you are only worthy of smelling my gym socks. (i know...what a threat)

This CD is beautiful. Stunning. Extremely reminiscent of American Football, which is definitely a good thing. I listen to it every night when I go to sleep, not because it's boring, but because it's peaceful and serene and happy and romantic and makes me think of lakes and trees without leaves and small flowers. Just buy it. Bye.
