De Facto

Megaton Shotblast

GSL 45

Released on July 24, 2001

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

GSL is extremely proud to announce the release of the debut full-length recording from DE FACTO. DE FACTO hail from Long Beach, CA by way of El Paso, TX. The group features Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodriguez of the internationally reknowned AT THE DRIVE-IN. DE FACTO has been the pair's alter-ego since their days in El Paso, playing an eclectic and constantly evolving composite of sounds, hinging squarely on instrumental dub reggae. Rooted within the realm of dub pioneers like AUGUSTUS PABLO and ROOTS RADICS, DE FACTO (which also includes Isaiah "Ikey" Owens and Jeremy Ward) also tamper in electronica, salsa, and jazz giving their sound a distinct, transcendental quality. Yet their mastery of a true Roots vibe and the genre's inherent hardware anomaly, the melodica, ensure DE FACTO's respect from purists as well as that from music lovers at large.

Such great music. Good for just doing homework or hanging out. Or maybe even dancing, but not quite. It's a bit slow. But you should buy this. Forget that Cedric and Omar from ATD-I are in De Facto, though. Because this band stands alone fine on its own. So yeah, get this.
