M.I.A.

Lost Boys

Alternative Tentacles 258

Released on March 20, 2001

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Alternative Tentacles Records is proud to resurrect the best vintage SoCal hardcore band ever to come out of Las Vegas! Around '83 M.I.A. relocated to Orange County and held their own with all the classic bands of the day, onstage and in the studio. Up north Maximum Rock 'n' Roll had adopted them too, bending their own rules to make M.I.A. the only non-bay area band on the landmark Not So Quiet On The Western Front compilation. A normally reserved Jello Biafra offered them this label's services as soon as they walked off stage when he saw them in Las Vegas. The Murder In A Foreign Place 12" was the result. It's all here; their side of the Last Rights album (originally split with another band they didn't even know would be on the record). The Murder In A Foreign Place 12", early demos, lost live tracks and some excellent studio demos that pre-dated their later work. Almost 80 minutes of soaring melodic punk and hardcore with plenty of power and variety. One of the all-time greats at the peak of their powers.

great hardcore punk. sounds like the typical melodic california punk band except they were from las vegas. the begining has their first two lps and some random demos and songs. then you get their demos for their third lp and it is a big change bc they sound a lot like beneath the shadows era tsol without the keyboard. i wish alternative tentacles or some other record company would rerelease their last two lps on cd

Awesome ! these guys were really good at what they did i don't know why they're not popular, this cd is better than 75% of the crap that's out there now that people consider punk/melodic/hardcore, moving on now, this cd is a complete discography of M.I.A. , so rather than go looking for a bunch of old comps. with 4 good songs out of 25 tracks on them you can get this band's whole catalog on one cd for a good price, they do a good "Damned" cover too, so if you like early "Bad Religion" or " the Minutemen" or more recent crap like "Pennywise" or "the Bouncing Souls" then get this cd, it will become one of your top 5...for a couple weeks anyway

A good collection, I like all the different sounds on here from the early melodic hardcore sounds of the first half of the CD to the more experimental sounding latter ones. The first half sounds like a cross between Bad religion and the adolescents whereas the latter period stuff is like a faster/rockier Rozz Williams era Christian Death.

Classic Las Vegas 80's punks,M.I.A. and their discography in Alternative Tentacles is one of the best things that had happened since this place is called earth,Sincerely they sound like a cross between the OC bands(TSOL,Adolescents,Crowd, etc) and good east coast hc punk.Go buy it ,in you are a fan of hardcore punk rock from the early days.

I hate hippies..

For the 1st time on CD, Las Vegas's MIA!!! Buy this CD and be swept away with early American hardcore! If you like early 7 seconds, Code Of Honor, Agression and other bands of that generation, you'll love this album. Not only is the band good this CD as a shitload of tracks. Practically their complete discography plus unreleased demos and studio tracks. Buy this and you will not be disapointed.
