Pistol Grip

Shots From The Kalico Rose

BYO 73

Released on May 29, 2001

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Born in 1997, Pistol Grip arose from the depths of the Los Angeles underground scene, as an answer to all the Ska and Pop bands that were saturating the underground and calling themselves "punk". Influenced by the likes of The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Sham 69, Bad Religion, and the Ramones, Pistol Grip is a mixture of the U.K. and L.A. styles of punk fused with anti-religious and quasi-political lyrics. Nothing preachy or politically correct, just raw, in-your-face street poetry. They are steadily building a strong following while showing the masses of our deluded pop-culture that the roots of "Punk Rock" started before they were probably even born.

This is a great mix of ramones punk and oi punk. I like it. Good clear voice, fast punk rock and the traditional back ground choir.

I'll keep it simple. If you don't have this, get this. I'm a Pistol Grip fan, so I suppose I'm biased. But, if you get this cd, you'll be a Pistol Grip fan too.

Pretty good debut from pistol grip, musically this has obvious clash influences but with a bit of bands like the gc5, the beltones, swingin' utters, et al, This could easily be a mellower release by germany's kings of oi/street punk Oxymoron...if you like the whole brit punk/ sing a long/ street punk thing, this band is for you. Stand out tracks are the brilliant, anthemic opener Crucifixion politix, and the ultra catchy, multi vocal, Scoundrels....A few listens and this cd grows and grows on you...Fuck, yeah good stuff...

Very good CD all together. They have a strong street-punk sound with a very detectable Ramones influence which becomes more and more noticable later in the CD. I was really anticipating this one coming in the mail and when it did I was suprised to find a different kinda sound that I was expecting. It's not as fast paced as I was led to believe, which made me first notice the Ramones feel of the songs. A lot of added in "Hey"s and stuff from secondary vocals... putting in this cd made me feel like I was right there at the show, definitely worth the money.

I saw these dudes with THE BUSINESS in the beautiful town of Boise, ID. I had no clue who they were but they rocked pretty hard. And the CD is without a doubt a must buy. I just can't wait for another album

straight up punk rock. buy it now, unless you're an emo cocksucker, then go cry. Every track is better than anything else you listen to.
