That Darn Punk (Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Kung Fu 78780

Released on March 9, 2001

$12.25

That Darn Punk. The film stars, among others, members of The Vandals, with Joe Escalante playing a punk musician who pays the ultimate price for his back stage indiscretions. In and around the action on the screen, we loaded the film with some of the best and most valuable punk rock ever recorded. Classic songs like Aliens (Pennywise), GGF (Rancid), and After You My Friend (Lagwagon) join amazing new songs recorded especially for the film like Siegfried and Roy (Nerf Herder), Only You (No Motiv), and Right on Q (The Vandals), which are available, nowhere else. Beyond this, we added even more unreleased and exclusive new material from Kung Fu bands like The Ataris and Assorted Jelly Beans, and sneak peaks at upcoming Kung Fu bands like MI-6, Antifreeze and our unbelievable newest signing, OZMA.

I would say to see the movie first but this CD is just to good to pass up if you can find it. Alot of funny stuff on this Ataris confirm there love for Claire Danes with Ben Lee sucks and the Vandals have great stuff on here. A must for any Kung Fu fan or just a fan of punk music.

This is a good CD. I've never seen the movie, but I like some of the bands on it, and I'm always looking for new music. (Compilation CDs are the best) Well, it's strange.. I definately want to see the movie now. The best songs on it would be, "Siegfried and Roy" By Nerf Herder (it just repeats the same thing over and over, but it's cool!), "Domino Effect" by Ozma (this is what I'm talking about. Being exposed to new music), "Ben Lee" by the Ataris (I love them to begin with), "The Ides" by Antifreeze (new band too), "Why Won't Left Eye Get With Me?" by Josh Freese(it's funny as hell), and "My Heart Will Go On" by The Vandals w/ Katalina. (Yes, it's the Titanic theme song-- they actually take it from a song that makes you want to kill yourself, into a song you can actually enjoy. Plus, I love Katalina's voice-- it's great!) So, all an all, DEFINATELY BUY THIS CD-IT'S WORTH IT!

The poor star rating I gave is NOT for the this CD. It's for the sorry piece of shit movie that this soundtrack is for. I thought "Oh, wow! The Vandals made a movie! I bet it's sooooo funny and punk rock." Nope. The acting is like a porno, only with no sex. The only funny part is Warren being the retard boy. I don't know, maybe if you think the new Vandals album rocks, you'll like this movie, because I think they are both awful. If you want funny Vandals, get Sweatin' to the Oldies. That is the greatest film ever made, in my opinion. As for this soundtrack, I give it five stars. It's a great fucking CD, and so is the Glory Daze CD, which is also a terrible movie. Now I'm all mad, and I have to go jerk off to calm down. But look! I rated four different things in one review. Lucky you.

This is a really good CD. It has a lot of great songs and I don't find myself skipping over any tracks. There are a bunch of older songs that I've always loved and some newer ones (The Vandals song kicks ass... and the Nerf Herder one, since I've seen the movie, it still gives me the willies). There's this other band on it called OZMA, who I'd never heard of. I love the song on it, but it sounds like a song that just didn't make the cut on the new Weezer CD. They sound identical.

My only problem with the CD is the dialogue from movie. I guess it sort of gives it a nice touch, but they are so damn short. And where the hell is the dialogue from the funniest part of the movie. The white Jewish guy who thinks he's black!!!!!!!!!!! (Another problem: the stupid fucks at Kung Fu, just joken i love you guys, screwed up my CD. Unless it happened to them all. On the actual CD it only lists up to 17.)

Overall, I'd buy the CD. It's really good. But it's a tad more enhanced having sat through the movie.

If you know what good music is youll like this cd. It has some sweet unreleased songs by the vandals, and all the other songs on here are good. The soundclips in between are kinda stupid though.

This soundtrack is defenitly the best soundtrack for a movie that i have ever heard by far. I love all of the bands on this cd and the songs are great. With the cut scenes from the movie adding to the cd inbetween a few songs, this ranks among one of my favorites. I would defenitly buy it.
