While "Suck This" boasts the stellar "Beat Off" line-up of Joe, B-Face, Danny Vapid, & Dan Panic and "Live In West Hollywood" has the best sound of the three live CDs, "Weekend At Bernies" still deserves top billing as the best live Queers CD because:
1. It has the most material, including rarities such as Grow Up's "Goodbye California", Love Songs For The Retarded's "I Can't Stop Farting", and A Day Late & A Dollar Short's "Wimpy Drives Through Harlem"
2. It has a great line-up of its own, which includes Phillip Hill (ex-Teen Idols) playing bass and singing back-ups.
3. Excellent covers: The Ramones' "Slug" and "Rockaway Beach", The Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and Angry Samoans' "My Old Man's A Fatso".
4. The biggest treat of all is the short set of "A Day Late And Dollar Short" & "Livin' La Vida Loca" tunes that close the record. The songs are performed as The Drunken Cholos with Wimpy on vocals and they run through the old tunes with enthusiatic abandon. It doesn't get much better than that.
While you may question the need for another live Queers album (which would be fair), don't skimp on this live CD because THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY.

I love the Queers but I don't really care for this one. I would recommend Live in West Hollywood if you want a live album.

Back when the Queers were on tour for the "PUNK ROCK CONFIDENTIAL" album in 1998(my favorite). I met their drummer at the time, Steve Stress. I asked Steve what songs they were going to play that night. He told me how difficult it is to make up a set list for a band like The Queers. Over eight great full length albums, several ep's, and tons of cover songs in their back pockets. So how do they form a set list? I will be honest here. Most of my favorite jams from The Queers are not on this live album. I think this CD is worth buying simply because they cover "SLUG" by The Ramones. Oh and also because their is a bonus set by Wimpy where he even does some Drunken Cholos songs. I think it should be illegal for them to play a show without playing "TEENAGE BONEHEAD" in the mix. It should be a staple in their set, like "Blitzkrieg Bop" was for the Ramones.

The two shows that made up the "Weekend At Bernie's" were some of the funnest shows I've ever attended. They featured great opening bands, like The Copyrights, The Methadones and The Unlovables. The Queers played almost every song you could ever imagine wanting to hear live, and it was a good beer feuled time. This CD is a great document of that weekend, the only thing missing is the songs featuring guest vocalists Chelsea and Hallie from The Unlovables, because they did songs with The Queers that you NEVER hear The Queers do live. Other than that this is a great live album that all die hard Queers fans should own!
