Ah, The Accelerators! What can I say? I’ve been hanging around in the Rotterdam scene for over 10 years now, and never before have I been blown away by a local band, like The Accelerators did. Sure thing, there have been and still are great acts around, but I all saw them coming, I saw the rise. With the Accelerators, it was like having a big bucket of ice-cold beer thrown in my face. And it was all good!
But what else do you expect? Four devoted punkrockers with a huge passion for the classics. Without any limitations and expectations. The goal is to rock, have fun and make good songs. Play a show, give it all you got, make sure to enjoy yourself. If other people dig the sound, that’s great! Hug a tree and get on with it. If they don’t like what we do, fuck ‘em all to hell, we’ll play another club next time. The Accelerators play punkrock because they want to.
It’s individuals that make a strong collective. The Accelerators are blessed to be fronted by the already legendary Ox. Still in his teens, this guy is without a doubt the best punkrock bass-player ever to come from the 010. Every show he puts it down, screaming the words and pumping the bass. Respect to the guitarplayers Willy and Marlon for keeping up. Cause they do. They both hail from the small-town Lekkerkerk, known for it’s quality musicians. While they slam their powerchords into the room, the beats and the goods get delivered by Erik A.C., aka the man-the legend. A world-wise drumgangster in his early twenties. He speaks a zillion languages and spends most of his time alone on this continent without any relatives.
Put them all together, and the circle is complete, the engine is running and the world makes sense again. Go see them live, because unlike some other bands, the Accelerators will play for food and accomodation. Everywhere, anywhere, everytime, anytime. And make sure to check out their new “No More Fucking Drama” EP. What a great record! Recorded by Eppie Hotz, produced by Marien Nicotine and mastered by Perry Travolta. A killer today, a classic to be.
Alright kids, better believe me, The Accelerators rule!
