There are hundreds of ways to express the word "amazing." Miraculous, astonishing, and absolutely fucking mental are a few examples, but "Stray Bullets" is the simplest synonym for this word that means to inspire awe or admiration. Everything about the band, from their name to their look to their attitude, describes them perfectly. Like a shot blasting from the barrel of a gun Stray Bullets will pierce their victims skin and chain their life forever. The Lyrical content Jon Cauztic drops speaks of the hardships and misfortunes of a working class life and his distaste for the expectations society has on the individual. One glance at the Bullets tells that they are as punk as they sound matching the rough edge of their aggravated upbeats and blasting drums with leather jackets and steel toes. Stray Bullets live outside the bounds of normal society. They wont follow the rules; they wont believe what they're told and their music hits as hard as the spray from a semi-automatic machine gun. With their first full-length record Stray Bullets nailed every song as if it were hammered into the audience's mind. This quartet combines the intense rhythm section of Drew Roach's thunderous drumming and Andy Peltz's hooky punk and reggae bass lines; Add Power Geoff's melodic guitar leads and singer songwriter Jon Cauztic's captivating lyrics, blend of skank guitar upbeats and power chords complete the group. With influences such as Rancid, Operation Ivy, the Suicide Machines and even a little Sublime, Stray Bullets grind out aggressive punk rock and ska like a handful of amphetamines and drill it into the hearts and minds of their audience.
The record opens up with "PC1" which can be summed up by the first line "She's California dreaming now that common sense has failed." A story of a girl's dreams and the hurt feelings the storyteller goes through over her decision to move to the promise land California. "PC1" is followed by "70," a song about the struggle to live out your dreams, and the choice to go broke or give up. Cauztic's introspective look at life is very sincere, "another week another year, what am I still doing here, tunnel vision never clear, is this progress…I have no regrets now cause when I find the sound all doubts are disavowed; I'll step out of that cloud and turn this shit around."
Other highlights on the record include "Eyesore" which begins with dual guitar and bass grooves on top of drums that almost swagger and push the music along. When Caustic throws his chords and the pseudo-hip hop delivery of his verses the listener can't help but be locked in. Stray Bullets kick you in the teeth with their powerful chorus, "You know the cost of living will keep rising while the chance of finding work keeps going down; dark clouds now block what were once clear horizons, and its my broken hands that build this filthy town." "America" touches on the way the US corporations and the government operate, the results of such careless endeavors, and Caustic's distrust of their values and ethics.
From start to finish Stray Bullets take you on a trip into the lives of four punk rock veterans and their life experiences. From love to loss, to mugging and drinking, they pour their hearts into their songs. Every note, every hit, every lyric speak nothing but the truth. All fifteen songs tell an interesting tale and each story is matched with great music and some of the best vocal hooks out there.

STRAY BULLETS! I heard about this band a while ago and had songs downloaded from their webstie but was really excited when i found the cd for sale here. Its a really good mix of ska and punk (sounds like the suicide machines) but still has its own sound. The lyrics are great and the music is like a tidal wave of energy, from the first song to the last. It's hard to not listen to the whole cd all the way through. I really like Wretched Refuse and s.d.b. A good cd for any ska fans collection

If you're a fan of Rancid, Sublime, or Suicide Machines, this is the next big band of that group. This disc contains many ska/punk anthems all tuned to help you rock out while dancing like a madman. And if you and your friends are geared for a night of drinking and partying, I might even reccomend listenening to this.

Crazy good ska punk. There's already alot of reviews for this, so I don't know what I can add, but all the songs on here are really catchy and have awesome surfy rhythms and solos on alot of the songs in addition to the ska and punk. The only complaint I could think of is that alot of the lyrics are about smokin' J's and drinking, which is really cliche and lame. The political and social commentary songs are great though, and every single song sounds really great, even if the lyrics aren't too original or outstanding on some of them.

This band definitly sounds like they have a hard on for the Suicide Machines circa 1997. And thankfully for me, that's a very good thing. Stray Bullets would've been huge in the mid 90's, not because of the weird ska explosion, but because the tunes are that good. Get this if you're into the Suicide Machines or The Code.

In the horribly overdone ska-punk style, a band has to be pretty special to stand out from the legions of mediocre acts out there. Bands like Operation Ivy, Slapstick, Choking Victim, Suicide Machines, Thumper, and Link 80 are some of the ones who have pulled this off. While the first album from the Stray Bullets isn't particularly original (it often sounds very close to Battle Hymns-style Suicide Machines), it is still obvious that they care about what they do, and put time and feeling into these songs. Derivative or not, the quality of music shines through, and the result is a damn solid album that I would reccomend.
