Worst Of

Parts Unknown 5

Released on May 10, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

The Worst started terrorizing the Jersey Shore in the late 70's and didn't stop until the mid 80's. The first release on the highly acclaimed and collectable Mutha Records label, they also released a follow up 12" a few years later. While Chronic Sick seems to get all the attention, probably due to their lp being impossible to find, The Worst truely held the crown as the best shore core band ever. This CD compiles all of their recorded material - the 7", the "Expect the Worst" 12", the previously unreleased 2nd lp, and a set from Max's Kansas City which includes never before released songs. Liner notes by the one and only Dr Punk!!! If you like Black Flag, Minor Threat, Negative Approach, or any old early 80’s hardcore you’ll dig this.

A rather nifty re-release of this kinda obscure New Jersey band from the classic early 80's era (though this band started in the late 70's). Contains their 7", brilliant "Expect The Worst" 12", some unreleased tracks from a studio session, and a few rather dodgy quality live tracks (from '79). The 7" and 12" (especially!) tracks are kick-ass, classic USHC style with some rather obnoxious lyrics. Can't recommend them enough. The other studio tracks sound like they're first mix or something, and ain't as powerful as the others, but still rockin'. Comes with a history of the band, photos, etc. Definately give this a go if you want to check out another great, yet unheralded band from the past.

The Worst were an old New Jersey punk band around before the hardcore explosion. They were blacklisted from the snobby New York scene and they decided to play louder, faster than all their contemporaries. This era is chronicled in songs 1-14 on the CD. It's pretty good old school punk but not anything phenomenol. HOWEVER...songs 15-21 are from an unreleased album recorded at Hardcores peak and IT FUCKING RULES!!! I hate to say it but it is "classic punk" in every sense. It's a totally different and better sound than the first part of the CD, in fact it is the absolute EPITOME of hardcore punk. Pick this fucker up for those 6 songs, do yourself a favor. If you think your into punk and don't have this then get it NOW!! If you don't get it then you may as well shoot yourself in the head. Have I insulted you enough? Just get tha muthafukkin CD. OK?
