Yesterday's Ring/Couch Addiction

Dare To Care Split Series Vol. 1

Dare To Care 3

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Dare To Care took Montreal's favorites in 2 very different genres of music and put them together on one great split CD! Who would've thought that ska punk and acoustic folk punk would have blended so well?

I got this for the Yesterday's Ring tracks because since hearing "El Rancho" I have become a super fan. These tracks are more acqoustic/country then what the band presently does. So although I can listen to them...not so great. I would advise buying the 2 available full lengths "Diamonds in the Ditch" & "El Rancho"...and especially the CDEP "Back From El Rancho".

I got this for Yesterday's Ring. I didn't listen to the Couch Addiction half (maybe someday I will). The Yesterday's Ring half doesn't sound like El Rancho, Back to El Rancho, or Diamonds in the Ditch. It doesn't sound country at all. It sounds like if the Sainte Catherines recorded an acoustic album, except that kind of sounds like a terrible idea, so it sounds better than that, but it sounds like the Lawrence Arms acoustic BBC recordings, Against Me!'s acoustic EP or anything of that nature, but, you know, with Hugo singing. And just to be clear, that is a good thing.

This CD was a really big surprise. I originally got it because of Couch Addiction, an amazing punk/ska band from Canada. They have a really unique sound. The vocals are really good, grungy, how I like them. The keys add a more original sound to the band’s music. Add that with awesome ska guitar, bouncy bass lines, catchy horns and powerful back vocals, and there you have one bad ass punk/ska band. Yesterdays Ring was a big surprise to me, a project by the lead singer from the Saint Catherines,(another awesome grunge/punk band). Amazing vocals. I normally listen to far more energetic music, but the vocals just rock so much!!! Buy this CD.
