Amazing Transparent Man

Taking Back The Covers

Springman 29

Released on March 25, 2003

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

Actual release date is May 29th but InterPunk has this record exclusivly online until then. Thrashing their way through six of their favorite mainstream songs originally written by woman, ATM scores high marks for putting their own marks on these now classics. Favorites like "Bitch", "Criminal" and "Holding Out for A Hero" become a brand of hilarious hardcore while Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" and "Nothing Compares 2 U" are so beautifully performed, it's uncanny. This CD is an all out rocker, taking the band and their audience along for an awesome nostalgia ride. Easily enjoyed even if you haven't heard the originals.

I think this is the fourth copy of this cd I have bought. I just keep losing it. I keep buying it again though, which should tell you how good it is.

To be fair, I like to hear a lot of different covers, so this album might benefit from my bias. That said, the music is all very good, but if there is a weak link it's "Criminal." All this rest is great and really worth taking a listen. I am very happy with this purchase and I would recommend it to anyone who likes covers or rocking music.

I have mixed feelings about this. It's a fun idea, and it had potential, i just don't think that all of the songs were well executed. I say this because i was really expecting something awesome out of Criminal and i didn't get it, as that's easily the worst song on the CD. That's okay though, Amazing Transparent Man, i forgive you because i am a sucker for cover songs overall and because you do a bang-up job on some of the other tracks, i.e Bitch and Man, I Feel Like A Woman. Three stars.

This release sounds too whiny like older Blink-182. The only song that was halfway alright was "Fast Car." The rest sucked. This is not like typical ATM. I don't like Blink-182 that much, but I'd rather buy a release by them...more original songs for your buck.

i enjoy this cover song ep very much. i like the band's sound (very pop-punk), so that helps. they do the original songs much justice: they change their style (ie, voice/singing, etc.) to suit each individual song, sort of impersonating the original artists. each song sounds more like a "tribute" rather than a "cover." this ep also brings back memories from the days when i still listened to the originals of some of these. ;)

my favorite song is probably "bitch." it kicks right in with a great drum beat and it hooked me right away. that's probably why it's the first song on the cd. i also like "holding out for a hero." that's definitely my second favorite. "fast car" is good too.
