First Time For Everything

Released on October 10, 1998

This band combines the FAT Wreck Chords sound with a splash of Emo. Very late 90's sounding punk rock in the vein of NOFX and Blink 182. Sometimes the music branches off from this style and sounds a bit like Sunny Day Real Estate or Texas Is The Reason. Fast music, tight playing, good vocals.

I have had the Commercials second full length for some time and finally decided to purchase First Time For Everything. In having said that, this CD was a little different than what I had expected. Upon hearing the opening track, I instantly was thinking this sounds like Blink 182 Cheshire Cat era punk...and it stayed that way for the most part. Overall, it is an okay record, a little raw on the recording quality, and definitely in the pop-punk mold as mentioned in the CD's description. However, I would recommend Twenty Years Tonight or their newest record because they show much more maturity and a better mix of styles. Either way, check out the Commercials!!
