Straight Outta Junior High

Kiss Of Deaf

Fastmusic 3001

Released on February 10, 2004

This item is not available for purchase. Sorry!

With a carefree live show and sophomoric wit, Straight Outta Junior High is a band that entertains audiences on and off stage. Started in Lincoln, Nebraska as a joke by three guys that wanted to have fun, SOJH has risen from a forgettable punk band into something to remember. The band's 2+ years of Midwest and west-coast touring has landed them on stage with many national acts, including Alkaline Trio and MXPX, Allister, Plain White T’s, Divit, Don’t Look Down, Ultimate Fakebook, and the Vibrators.

Their appearance on the Ernie Ball 2003 Warped Tour Stage won the band a 2nd place prize, all new instruments and a show at the Key Club in Hollywood. Following the band's debut label release "Kiss Of Deaf," SOJH will be heading out on a nationwide tour...ecstasy, laughter, and finally redemption.

The lyrics are funnier than shit, but the music is way too overly poppy. These songs would get old very quick if the lyrics weren't as funny as they are.

Another punk cd punk/rock cd I probably shouldn't have bought. The cd isn't horrible, but its nothing special. I like the lyrics but the sound is nothing new.

If you are looking for a really generic, overly poppy band, you may like this. It's very catchy, and some of the songs have good funny lyrics like "my girlfriend is a lesbian" or "divas are skanks."

However, for the most part this is entirely forgetable. The songs all just sort of blend together. I don't know if the band is trying to or not, but they sound overly Blink 182ish. I am not going to launch a big criticism of corporate "punk" here or anything, most of us got into this type of music because we heard one of the commercial bands. If you are one of those kids here now, welcome to punk...let me encourage you to look another direction. There is not anything horrible about this CD, but it isn't anything really worth getting excited about either.

The lyrics are horrible The songs have hardly any variation from each other The songs have basically the same progression in every song But strangely... This cd still manages to kick ass.

If you put NOFX, Nerf Herder, and Screeching Weasel in a blender this is exactly what you'd come up with.

This is a great new band that has alot of potential to go big, and im looking forward to seeing them this year at warped tour.

music for fun. I guess I thought of nofx when i heard this cd. My favorite song was "stars won't shine." I give it 3 stars because I am into "emo" stuff right now and this didn't really affect me deeply like other music does.

Straight Outta Junior High kick fucking ass! I love this band. I bought their first CD on a fluke, and it turned out to be one of the smartest things I did that entire month. This second CD is no exception. It's generally impossible to surpass the preceding album if it was awesome, and it was, but these fuckers did it (at least I think they did)! To me, this is a band that if I lost either one of their CD's, I'd buy them again (if I had any money). I'm fucking glad to see a pop-punk band who still has a sense of humor AND still rocks. It's getting rarer and rarer these days. 13 songs about sluts, divas, lesbians, superheros, sluts, styrofoam, girlfriends, how much Limp Bizkit sucks, getting and being wasted, sluts, and Japanese words. Buy it or I hope you get crabs.
