This is a good CD and I would recommend this if you like any of their material. I actually like Year One more than Background Music, and both of those CD's have some of the same songs on it, but my favorite songs SOre THroat Syndrome and Fuck What Fireworks Stand For are only on Year One at least I think.

What can you say? Flat out badass hardcore with a bridge nine sound. It's real good but I like the later stuff with more of a punk influence a tad bit more. I heard they broke up though too bad...has an awesome kick out the jams cover to i dug that would be 5 stars but I like the later stuff more

I've had this cd since it was out while they were American Nightmare, and it's just as good, maybe better, because it's got the Sun...... brighter E.P. I think it's great. Buy it, if you want.

Right when I think that background music is one of the best hardcore cds EVER, i get this, then i know that american nightmare/ give up the ghost is one of the best hardcore bands ever. none of this metal-influenced homoginized nonsense either. if you like hardcore, then you'll love this cd. a great buy.

Hoorah for GUTG. They make good music that everyone from hardcore snobs (you know who you are, you people who took a term and completely co-opted it into some bad metal off shoot. xHatebreedxCorex!!!) and normal (used loosely) music loving people can enjoy.
The production on this seems a bit cleaner than Background Music, which takes bit of the edge off. The lyrics are of the usual "boo hoo woe is my unrequited love for thee" type, but they don't seem to fall in a trap of over whining. The artwork and packaging is really cool too. I guess they had to justify the $12 price somehow (18, 19 minutes?)
Anywho, I like this CD. I'd buy it again if I lost it and couldn't find someone to copy it off of.
