No Thanks! The 70's Punk Rebellion (4 Disc Box Set)

NO THANKS! THE '70s PUNK REBELLION is a four-CD set chronicling the movement that gave the bloated music industry the finger.

Over five years in the making and housing over 100 songs, NO THANKS! THE '70s PUNK REBELLION is the first and only compilation of its kind in the U.S. The collection is sure to instigate heated discussions -- if not full-out fistfights -- about what exactly constitutes punk rock.

There are plenty of the usual suspects here: Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, The Jam, The Damned, Buzzcocks, X-Ray Spex, Wire, and Generation X. Reflecting the diversity of the movement, it also features artists who quickly outgrew the punk label: Patti Smith, Elvis Costello, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Joe Jackson, Television, The Pretenders, The Boomtown Rats, and Blondie. Also included are one-chord wonders like The Adverts, The Rezillos, and Eddie & The Hot Rods, as well as some of the movement's earliest godfathers: Iggy & The Stooges, The Modern Lovers, and New York Dolls.

this box set is a good get, especially anyone who heeds a starter kit to the history of late 70s-early 80s punk. Its got all the greats in the Clash, the ramones, and the Dammed, but no Sex Pistols( sorry SP fans). It also has lesser known bands like the Undertones,x-ray Spex, and many more that are just as interesting.

AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!!!

These are the best four cds in my collection without a doubt. Great punk and proto-punk bands on here that rock the socks off of anyone and everyone.

The cds come with a 100+ page pamphlet that includes a history of punk and a history behind each and every 100 songs. It's a great way to discover old bands that you might not have known about.

It may seem like a lot of money, but it is well worth it in my opinion.

This box set pretty much breaks it all down for you. It lets you know who the first punk bands were when it all started. And it shows you which bands had a huge influence on the punk music you know today. It is alot of money to spend, but if you have some extra scratch lying around. I'd suggest you pick this up. As KRS-One said, "You must learn."

This is a great box set for those who like old school punk. Beside the usual bands (Ramones, the Clash, Buzzcocks etc) there are some surprising additions like Ricard Hell and the Voidiods, the Damned and Stiff Little Fingers. There is also some proto-punk like the Dolls and the Stooges. This set is well worth the price just for the fact there are so many great bands and there is a hundred tracks.
