this compilation is excelent for us hardcore collectors(you know who you are, the ones who need damn phsycologists because we're so obsessed) new york, overlooked obviously because none of the bands toured. new york had its greatest bands in the world, and its half-half decent material. this contains both. this is worth hearing adrenaline o.d.,heart attack, kraut, stimulators, even worse, bad brains(i guess,it just has songs everyones already heard),beastie boys, yup some of the greatest bands of all time. i dont need to say anything else new york thrash is NOT NEW YORK TRASH. heh im so original

First off, if media Pop-punk/Sadcore/Good Charlotte bullshit is your thing, Run away. Fast. This is one of the best "historical" comps out there, on parrelel with "Let Them Eat Jellybeans" and "This Is Boston Not L.A." it contains some of the best early NYHC and presents it in a no bullshit format. Loud, discordant, stripped down songs such as "Shotgun" and "God is Dead" by Heart Attack are the seminal spine of modern american hardcore, while the technical belligerence of Bad Brains is a thorough mindfuck. If you have never heard these bands, but want to, you will probably have to look long and hard to find most of them anywhere else. If you have heard some/all of these bands its still worth buying just for the live stimulators stuff and unreleased or demo versions of certain songs.

Good stuff. The main reason i bought this was to hear what the beastie boys sounded like as a hardcore band, and also because i am a huge fan of the bad brains. The beastie boys exceeded my expectations, and all of the rest of the bands on here are really good, too, especially the false prophets, the mad, and the bad brains. The bad brains have early versions of the songs big takeover and regulator, wich are really good. Definetly buy it.
