Backseat Virgins sophomore release, "Carl" is a damned near perfect pop-punk record. Randy Hughes simply writes incredible songs. For "Carl" the Backseat Virgins teamed up with Matt Drastic (Teen Idols & Queers) to produce an up-tempo paced 14 song album. "Carl" is not a pretentious or overreaching second album; it isn't an attempt by the band to swing for the fences, instead, it is an instantly accessible harmony laden pop record that continues where 2007's "Born Again" left off. The band has made great strides producing a record that is fun, energetic and catchy. It is a stamp of a band that is filled with members who embody those same qualities.
