Terror State

Fat Wreck Chords 643

Released on October 21, 2003

In the recording of The Terror State, Anti-Flag turned to their long time friend Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave), employing him as the album’s executive producer. The result is Anti-Flag’s best sounding and most cohesive album to date! The story doesn’t end there, Anti-Flag was invited by Woody Guthrie’s granddaughter to pull lyrics from his archives and use them for a song. The product being the song “Post War Breakout”, one of the most innovative songs on the album.

Anti-Flag have long been organizers and participants in tours such as the “No More War: One People, One Struggle” Tour and the “Plea For Peace” Tour. Late in 2003 Anti-Flag will hit the road for nearly 3 months, in the US and Canada with a headlining package tour! Freedom, liberty, and social awareness being major subjects in their message, Anti-Flag are on a mission to empower the youth!

Despite what people say about it being poppy, its still a really good album, 1000x better than their new one. Get Die For Your Government and A New Kind Of Army first though.

It seems like here lately, all the really good punk bands have been releasing bad albums, for instance, Rancid with Indestructable, Green Day with American Idiot, Propagandhi with Today's Ashes... you get the picture. This completely does NOT apply to Anti-Flag with this album! It is definately one of their best! If you are just now getting into Anti-Flag, listen to this one or Underground Network first, then move on to all the other GREAT Anti-Flag albums (none of them are bad). I have this one on cd and vinyl, and I must say you need both, one for the car and one for the house, but if you're only gonna spend $10, get the vinyl, man!
