Three full lengths into their career, Portland via Tennessee subversives FROM ASHES RISE unleash their most harrowing dissention among a barrage of devastating and seditious musical ferocity. Armed with anger as their energy and backed by achingly severe riffs, unforgiving beats, and ramrod snarls, the band wades through the protests, the thievery, the disillusion, and the ultimate tragedy of the modern world. Recorded at Studio Litho (DEFTONES, SOUNDGARDEN) with Matt Bayles (BOTCH, BLOOD BROTHERS) and members are currently involved in TRAGEDY and WORLD BURNS TO DEATH.

Pretty good, I guess. Melodic "stadium crust" in the vein of Tragedy. It doesn't really have any staying power for me - I was wowed when I first heard it, but I barely listen to it now. Not as good as Tragedy, by a long shot. Still , if you're into the whole Portland scene/melodic crust thingy, this is probably FAR's definitive album, so go ahead and get it.

Wow. I haven't heard punk like this in awhile. I was truly impressed when I stumbled upon them one day. And another thing is its good to see them stay true to punk and not go on the tv or none of that shit. Great band, heavy, fast, everything a great punk band wants; this band has. I would have given it 5 stars, but the last song on the cd I find to be unlistenable.

These guys are fucking great! With that said "Nightmares" is truly a must have. Whether you like hardcore or punk you should be druling on yourself by the time you finish the record. Form fast hardcore punk anthems to sludgy doom grooves this record is dark, gloomy and just fucking fantastic.

Holy shit! This record fuckin smokes! I've been a "fan" of FAR for quite a few years now and this is maybe their best offering so far. Well I quite miss the rawness of their early releases which were also more rageous and pissed off if you ask me. Here the sound is very well produced (quite unusual for a crusty band hey!). What you have here is the perfect mix between early Neurosis, some HHIG, a bit of Amebix and D-beat stuff as well. Well it is truely great, heavy yet meolodic, hopeless and desperate yet beautiful. I love this band. Too bad they half sold out... Anyway FAR are still fuckin awesome, and this record thanks to its clean production can also attract a wider audience than the usual legion of crusties already into FAR. Top notch for sure.

Good Cd. Good Hardcore. Vocals get annoying after awhile. Wish there was some melody or something. Overall good music.

This CD is wonderful! It really proves how talented this band is. I wish they still sold their first CD and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

This is what punk rock is all about. Anyone tired of all the lame ass emo/screamo crap, this is for you. Punk rock with some balls and some substance. Kinda reminds me of Final Conflict in that sense.

I saw these guys live with Strike Anywhere and was impressed. Discharge inspired political-hardcore-melodic-at-times-punk rock. Just pick this up and give it a listen if you like Discharge or Rise Against or Strike Anywhere.
