Blood Has Been Shed

(Fronted By Howard Jones From Killswitch Engage)

Ferret Music 36

Released on July 1, 2003

Spirals, the band's latest release, is easily the heaviest thing BHBS has ever done (or anyone else), eclipsing 2001's kill-or-be-killed gem, Novella of Uriel. Fronted by Howard Jones (who does double duty as the frontman for Killswitch Engage) since their inception, Spirals finds BHBS experimenting with polyrhythms and off-timing, and the occasional Meshuggah reference. It's an entirely different entity. The end result is a ferocious metalcore monster more complex and heavier than its predecessor. Recorded by Zeuss, Spirals might very well be BHBS's defining moment in the metalcore scene, thanks to Unger's battering riffery and Jones' bipolar vocal prowess.

Well I caught these guys live with god forbid and decided to buy the albumn cause it wasn't that bad.....I dunno they do have howard from kse but it's not even as close as kse......I do like some of the songs on here and the vocals are awesome but the music changes tempo too much it's weird.......not that bad of a cd compared to some shit though

"this thing drags you along with it's huge claws, deep growls and battering footsteps" that would be a good description of this one.. not a instrumental genius cd, but a real heavy thing.. i think i like Novella Of Uriel a little bit more.. this one's less original.. good cd though..

Good cd. I don't know what the other guy was talking about, it sounds similar to "Novella of Uriel"

Very Intense! I'm excited to see this singer with "Killswitch Engage"

Holy SH**! This CD rocks! It is the definition of underground hard core. This has got to be one of the heaviest bands out right now. If you like raging vocals and a band to match it this CD is for you.

This CD was kind of disappointing compared to their older stuff. Could it be the change in singers? For whatever reason, no songs on "Spirals" really stick out. I guess I was expecting more!
