Meh, this album is alright. Many of willowtips bands are very very good but these guys are just a little boring. They remind of a little faster neurosis with a little more grind. If your into that, well, i'd just check out neurosis.

I don't normally listen to this specific sort of music, but ever since I heard Rune long ago, something about them stuck out. The End Of Nothing solidifies their place as a metal band who dared to do something different. Rune plays a fast, harsh death/grind/metal hybrid that rises above genre cliches and manages to be extremely misanthropic while not going over the top. Rune not only incorporates fast, technical riffing and an unforgiving low end, but brings elements of dark noise a la Gruntsplatter and even a little doom into their music to truly create a (very)depressive atmosphere that separates them from the everyday goregrind bands being pumped out left and right. This record also shows off some very impressive vocal talent. Rune has two vocalists, one high, raspy, and somewhat buried beneath the music, the only very deep, providing a thick, almost alien growl. When the two vocalists harmonize, the result is absolutely brutal and fits the music perfectly. Rune is playing angry music that is genuinely fueled by anger (something frighteningly rare nowadays), and is not a band to be overlooking. Harsh, depressing, misanthropic til the end (their liner notes even claim humanity is "on its last leg"), Rune are a band you will definitely want to keep your eye on in the future.
