Gatsby's American Dream

Ribbons And Sugar

Rocketstar 1006

Released on July 1, 2003

$11.75
Buy

"With flaming idealism and stirring slogans, they set out to create a paradise of progress, justice, and equality." Thus the stage is set for the release of GATSBY’S AMERICAN DREAM’s new album. Ribbons and Sugar is somewhat of a concept album, based loosely on the George Orwell book Animal Farm. The record uses Animal Farm as a litmus test for our lives, questioning the motivation behind our ideological, political, and musical rebellion, ultimately coming to the conclusion that the revolution has to happen at a personal level before it can affect a change in the real world.

Can these guys make a bad album? I guess not. I really love the unconventional song writing techniques these guys use on their albums. Really helps them to stand out. Not to meantion it's just great rock music.

I bought this after hearing "Theatre" on a Warped Comp. However, I wasn't as impressed with this CD. It was a descent album though. I've heard VOLCANO is better.

This is a fucking awesome cd. Its a lot different than what you've heard, some weird beat patterns and what not. Some songs will go off on some tangent in the middle of it. A lot of the songs differ in sound from one another. They slighty remind me of Coheed and Cambria but no screaming, no high pitched annoying voice, and more melodic.......and about 100 times better than any thing C&C have put out. If your into Coheed, or any type of emo-punk. You should definitly pick this cd up for sure.

Plus the bands name is Gatsby's American Dream, whats more kick ass than that

Quite an innovative band. Unique song structures, infectious guitars, interesting lyrics. I recommend this cd, with the only problem being that it's only 20 something minutes...It seems like you're only getting a taste of this band's talent.

I can't say enough about this album. It's amazing. It's short too, and in this case, it's not a bad thing.

this album is sick, I really got what I paid for this time. you should definently pick this up. really good tracks, real tight. I hope to see more of these guys! I was suprised by the good sound, and the lyrics kick ass! every song is unique and doesnt sound exactly like the others on the album. They all work together to form a seriosly sick piece for anyones collection. I repeat, get this, you wont regret it if you like good music.

this is one of the bands that when you hear one of their songs, you decide to try out their album. well for me, this turned out to be one of the smartest things I've done in a long time, its just incredible. I must say that GAD is a lot different then most bands out there, but thats a good thing. they've developed their own touch and use it well. they kinda remind me of Coheed and Cambria, without the whiny voice, which isn't a bad thing. the lyrics are great, and the music is well balanced and almost masterful. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys, well, any type of music, and likes to rock out, because its that good.

no one knows but they will. nothing like this rocking your face off in the car... gatsby's last was good but sounded very freshmen... this is the step up and it definately hits the spot.

This is a very unique cd, but for the most part, you can rock with it. I find myself drawn to bands like Thrice, The Used, Finch, you know hardcore melodic punk, but this is totally different and really dips into my pleasure meter. (ha, i said pleasure meter) Great unique cd for people who want to rock out with a cd with great riffs, thought provoking lyrics, and with a singer who is really really good.
