WARD CHURCHILL is Co-Director of the American Indian Movement (AIM) of Colorado, a National Spokesperson for the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee and an associate professor of American Indian Studies and Communications at the University of Colorado/Boulder. Some of his many books are The Cointelpro Papers, A Little Matter of Genocide, Agents of Repression, and Pacifism as Pathology. This CD was recorded in 2002 at the AK Press warehouse. CHURCHILL maintains that U.S. Policy, both home and abroad, results in perpetual death and misery through very real violence. What is the response of the sympathetic American Left? Petitions, marches, rallies and slogans that do nothing to tangibly change power. WARD encourages activists to ACT: "If you are actually in solidarity with people suffering, do something tangible to make it stop. Prayer vigils are real nice, and I like lit candles in the night as much as anybody else. But it's never ever in the history of humanity been known to stop a bullet. It's never been known to feed a child. It's never been known to have the least swaying effect on those in power." And for those of us who do not want to see another 911: "If you want your children to be safe, stop killing other people's babies. Or looking the other way while they die."

Sep 13 2005 Rating: 5/5 Stars

Ward Churchill came under attack in early 2005 for a term used in one paragraph of a 20 page essay. If anyone has read any article, essay, or book by this man, then he/she knows Churchill speaks of justice not hatred. This lecture reinforces that value that America should be held to international law. The lecture deals mainly with 9/11 and "why do they hate us?” Mr. Churchill puts it very simply; "If you keep on killing their babies" well any literate person can figure out that conclusion. In sum, this CD exposes US foreign policy for what it is (oppressing people for increase in multinational corporations profits), and why many countries hate American foreign policy.
