Just in time for the 2018 US mid-term elections, San Francisco punk outfit Blank Spots, and their record label Green Recordings, present a four song 7" vinyl E.P. that will definitely annoy your neighbors (if you TURN IT UP LOUD!)
The title song, 'Not My President', is an excellent piece of musical art, but with an extremely poignant message. Inspired after the current president took office, it was the obvious choice to record and release. Punk has always been on the cutting edge of social commentary, and Blank Spots point to some pretty serious defects in #45. The whole E.P. is designed to get the vote out, and this opening two-minute opus should incite some commentary, from both sides of the political spectrum.
Next up, 'Boot Boy Rock'n'Roll' is a sing along, foot tapping tune, rounding out the first side of the E.P. with a slice of the melodic songwriting style of singer/guitarist Talon. Straightforward street punk that defines the "pop" sensibilities of Blank Spots.
Side 2 opens with 'Out Of Control', a slamming work about the madness that everybody has in their psyche on a regular basis. Singing from the heart, and from real experience, Talon relates his personal experience with lyrics like "I don't even know why I get out of bed". Bass player Andrew and drummer Stark Raving Brad lock down this organized cacophony into a driving tune that you'll surely identify with, and issue your very own primal scream at the crazy world of today we exist in.
Finishing off this four song masterpiece of a record is 'Fair Weather Friend', a more hard hitting number (about those friends that aren't there when the going gets tough), with a sonic finish that closes this E.P. with a bang.
We're sure you'll enjoy this slab of punk rock'n'roll, and advise maximum volume for maximum effect
