|
Chicago's own Alkaline Trio give a special hometown Halloween performance at the Metro, backed by the very people that know them best, the true fans. "Alk3" pulls out all the stops with their quick-tempo melodies, heartbreaking lyrics, and hellbound priest costumes, ensuring a Halloween show never to be forgotten. Not since a Misfits show have punk rock and Halloween gone so well together.
Shot on multi-camera (5) digital video, "The Show Must Go Off" DVD series will set the benchmark for the guaranteed barrage of copycat live punk DVD's. Packed with extra footage, behind-the-scenes antics, interviews, not to mention our trademark hidden "easter eggs" and band commentary track, each release in this DVD series will appeal to all levels of fans, from the fair-weather, to the die-hard.

I am a huge Alk3 fan, and have been for many years now, and I must say this DVD is a must buy for fans of the band. It captures their live setting perfectly, and It is definetly worth the 15 dollars. The only problem I can say about this, is that you can tell at certain times that the sound is off from the actual video. Must be a dubbing glitch there.

If you like Alkaline Trio then there's no reason why you wouldn't love this. A pretty damn good set list and Derek Grant's amazing drumming are the highlights for me. The only real problem I have is that the crowd gets shown a lot and most of them look like turds.

This dvd has a great set list. It was a while ago so their newer stuff isnt on it, but the sound is good as well as the photography and footage. If you like Alkaline Trio you should deffinately get it.

This DVD came out at a point in my life when I needed something to really cling on to to keep me from going insain.. and i'm indeed sain now. I had to re-purchase due to scratching of the original, and an unfortunate drunken insodent last week. But I picked up drums by watching Derek Grant in this footage...and one time watching this you'll see why. I highly suggest buying this DVD, a must have for Alkaline Trio fans old and new.

Solid Dvd - nothing ground breaking! Contains its fair share of older tunes so its not for the fans of only the new stuff

Great. They perform some of their best songs (pre-Good Mourning) and they don't sound like shit, which they're notorious for when they perform live. Not too many great extra features but the concert alone is well worth it

Well, since the Trio are one of my favourite bands of all time, I'd like to say that this DVD blew me away and that it was the best I've ever bought. Only one problem - the DVD that blew me away the most this xmas was my Mest one, and the best one I got was my Reel Big Fish one, so nevermind. This is a distinctly average performance from Chicago's blood fiends, and although the way they are dressed on stage is impressive, they just don't manage to put out the 'w0w' factor. Don't let this cloud your judgement of Alk3 on whole though - the two times I've seen them live they have been breath-taking! But I think this was filmed in 2001, which is quite a while ago now, so nevermind. If you're a huge Alkaline Trio fan who knows all their songs etc etc then you'll probably love this, but for someone like me who only has 3/4 of their latest albums then you probably won't enjoy this as much =( I'm still giving it 4 stars though, purely because it's the Trio!

This is a good video. Whether you are an Alkaline Trio fan or not (I am), this DVD is worth the $15. The sound is pretty good, the songs are well selected, and the scene is macabre. I would have asked for one or two more tracks off of "From Here To Infirmary", but the songs from the Alkaline Trio CD were great. I have a new found respect for Dan Andriano, I had no idea he could play like that. I say get the DVD and decide for yourself. Now that I am on record saying that this DVD is worth $15, I should be clear: the photo gallery and other DVD "extras" don't add much. This DVD is a bad ass show, and that's why its worth the price, so don't expect the extras to be worth much.
