THE STUCK UPS - These two songs will give you a pretty decent look in to Sympathy for the Record Industries new best-kept secret. Polished up garage punk pop songs with soothing keyboard sounds. The Stuck-Ups began in Seattle, Washington as an all-girl punk band in 1998. The line up kept changing until its current incarnation of Tiffany, Meredith, Justin, and Nora. They self-released a four-song 7" in January 2001 and Sympathy For The Record Industry has released a self-titled LP (produced by Billy Childish) and the brand new Human Doll Express CD, preceded by a whirlwind European tour.
THE HIGH BEAMS - Somewhere from out under the Texas muck, came Matt Mayo (ex-VULTURES, ex-MULLINS), rock guitar super star. How, why and where, exactly, we may never know, but this newest project of Mayo's is absolutely the best yet. Think of the smooth mellow sounds of the WIPERS and mix that up with early KISS (no shit!). Their thick guitars, the mellow but hooky riffs and the way the lyrics just roll off the vocalist's tongueŠ.. Musically, the High Beams live up to every comparison above and with all the grace and ease of natural born punk rock and rollers.
